FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (January 28, 2010) - Wentworth Institute of Technology scored three unanswered goals to skate away with a 5-2 victory over Stonehill College in non-conference ice hockey action at the Foxborough Sports Center tonight.

Junior Geric Brodt (Anchorage, Alaska) scored two goals, including the game-winner, to spark Wentworth to its seventh victory over its last eight contests. Freshmen Anthony Principato (Holmdel, N.J.) and Dylan Barbieiri (Plainville, Mass.) each collected a goal and assist for the Leopards, while junior Kyle Richardson (San Jose, Calif.) chipped in with a goal.

Senior Christopher Rogers (Westford, Mass./Pomfret School) and junior Angelo Todesca (Westwood, Mass./Catholic Memorial) netted goals for Stonehill. Senior captain Peter Roundy (Simsbury, Conn./Kimball Union) dished an assist to collect a point in his third-straight game.

Senior Justin Marriott (St. Clair Shores, Mich.) made 22 saves in goal for Wentworth, who finished with a slight 27-24 advantage in shots on goal for the night. Junior Michael Manna (Framingham, Mass./Xaverian Brothers) stopped 22 shots for Stonehill. The Skyhawks finished 2-for-8 on the power play for the night, while Wentworth was 1-for-7 with the man advantage, adding a shorthanded goal to the mix.

Wentworth opened the scoring with the lone first period goal as Richardson fired in his second of the season from the point on a 5-on-3 power play at 13:54, assisted by Principato.

Stonehill evened the score 9:04 into the second period, when Todesca netted his sixth of the season, assisted by freshman Dana Borges (Taunton, Mass./Coyle Cassidy), on the power play. Wentworth regained the lead with Barbieiri's third of the season, assisted by freshman Mark McKamey (Powell River, British Columbia), with eight minutes left in the second. The Skyhawks answered again, just 1:14 later with a power play goal from Rogers, assisted by Roundy and sophomore Matthew Doherty (Milton, Mass./Thayer Academy), at 13:14.

Brodt put Wentworth back in front for good, assisted by sophomore Mike Paglino (Grosse Pointe Shore, Mich.) and freshman Vinny Muchalla (Prince George, British Columbia), with just 1:08 remaining in the second period. Principato pushed the Leopards lead to two goals with his eighth of the season, assisted by Barbieiri, 1:11 into the third period. Brodt rounded out the scoring with a shorthanded goal at 13:03 when he broke up and pass at the blue line and skated in for the breakaway goal - his fifth of the year.

Stonehill (7-9-1, 1-3-0 NE-10) returns to the ice on Saturday when it hosts Franklin Pierce University in a key Northeast-10 Conference clash at 2 p.m. The Skyhawks must win to avoid dropping the two points in the season series with the Ravens. Wentworth (14-2-1, 6-1-0 ECAC-NE) hosts Western New England College on Sunday at 2 p.m.
