Jackson earns third-straight Goaltender of the Week award
Diozzi named Player of the Week for the first time

EASTON, Mass. (December 14, 2009) - Two members of the Stonehill College ice hockey team received Northeast-10 weekly honors from the Conference office today.

Sophomore Andrew Diozzi (Belmont, Mass./Deerfield) was named the NE-10 Player of the Week for the first time, while classmate Tyler Jackson (Little Silver, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) has earned Goaltender of the Week honors for the third-straight week.

Diozzi scored five of Stonehill's six goals in a 2-0-0 week, extending the Skyhawks winning streak to five. He posted five goals, including a shorthanded goal, power-play goal and game-winner for the week as Stonehill played on back-to-back nights. It marks the third time this season Stonehill has collected Player of the Week honors with senior captain Peter Roundy (Simsbury, Conn./Kimball Union) earning the award twice this season.

Diozzi netted his first career hat trick to lead Stonehill to a 4-1 victory over the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth on Tuesday - snapping a 41-game skid against the Corsairs. He opened the scoring with a shorthanded goal and then iced the win with two third period tallies. Diozzi scored both Skyhawk goals in a 1:38 span in the second period of Wednesday's 2-1 triumph at Salve Regina University, potting the gamewinner on the power-play.

Diozzi has appeared in 27 games over his two-year career at Stonehill and totaled 16 goals and 12 assists for 28 points - third highest among active Skyhawks.

Jackson continued to shine in Stonehill's two wins last week, posting a 1.00 goals against average and .971 save percentage, averaging 33 saves per game while playing all 60-minutes in back-to-back nights. He stopped 37 of the 38 shots on goal he faced in Tuesday's 4-1 win over UMass Dartmouth, notching 13 saves in the first period and then 15 in the second. Jackson registered 29 saves (on 30 shots on goal), including 15 in the first period, the following night in a 2-1 victory at Salve Regina.

Jackson, who posted a program record shutout streak of 149:07 this season, has taken over the Northeast-10 lead with his 2.00 goals against average and .936 save percentage to go with a .714 (5-2-0) winning percentage through the first half.
