EASTON, Mass. (November 30, 2009) - Three members of the Stonehill College ice hockey team earned weekly honors from the Northeast-10 as announced by the Conference office this afternoon.

Senior captain Peter Roundy (Simsbury, Conn./Kimball Union) was selected as the Northeast-10's Player of the Week for the second time this season, while sophomore Tyler Jackson (Little Silver, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) was named the NE-10's Goaltender of the Week. First-year forward George DeMello (Cotuit, Mass./Tabor Academy) collected Freshman of the Week accolades from the NE-10 for the first time.

Roundy, named Player of the Week for the second time in four weeks this season, led Stonehill with six points on two goals and four assists over three games last week. He led the Skyhawks to a 6-0 triumph over Southern New Hampshire University at the PAL/Stovepipe Tournament on Sunday with a five-point effort, logging two goals and three assists. Both goals were power-play markers, scoring the game-winner on the man advantage 4:30 into the contest. Assisted on three-straight Skyhawk goals that broke the game open, and then netted an unassisted third period goal on the power play to ice the victory. Roundy also dished an assist against the University of Massachusetts Boston on day one of the tournament on Saturday.


Sophomore Tyler Jackson posted his first career shutout on Sunday to earn NE-10 Goaltender of the Week honors for the first time.

Roundy, one of only four Stonehill players to play all ten games so far, ranks second among NE-10 leaders with a team-best 14 points, scoring five goals (4th) to go with a Conference-high nine assists. He leads the NE-10 in power play scoring with nine points on three goals (2nd) and six assists, and leads the Conference with two game-winning goals.

In 83 career games played, Roundy has totaled 76 points on 23 goals and 53 assists. His 50th career helper came against UMass Boston on Saturday.

Jackson earns his first career Goaltender of the Week award after posting his first career shutout in Stonehill's 6-0 win over Southern New Hampshire in his lone appearance of the week. He stopped all 27 shots on goal he faced, including ten each in the first and second periods while the Skyhawks built a five-goal lead. The win was also the first for Jackson in four career starts.

Jackson has appeared in three games (all starts) for Stonehill this season, posting a 1-2-0 record and 3.34 goals against average with an .896 save percentage with the one shutout in 179:40. He is averaging 21.5 saves per game.

Jackson has played 239:40 over his four career appearances in two seasons at Stonehill, posting a 3.50 GAA and .890 save percentage while averaging 28.25 saves per game. 


George DeMello collected NE-10 Freshman of the Week honors for the first time following a four-goal week.

DeMello collects his first Freshman of the Week award after scoring four goals for four points over Stonehill's three games last week. He netted his first collegiate hat trick against Nichols College on Tuesday, scoring one goal on the power play, before adding a first period goal in Sunday's 6-0 decision over Southern New Hampshire.

DeMello, also one of four Stonehill players who have played all ten games, has registered a team-high five goals (4th NE-10) and an assist for six points in his first collegiate season for Stonehill, posting one power play and one game-tying goal. He ranks fourth among NE-10 freshmen with his six points, sharing the Conference lead with five goals among freshmen.

Stonehill (3-6-1, 0-2-0 NE-10) is back in action on Tuesday night when it hosts Worcester State College for a non-conference matchup at the Foxborough Sports Center at 7 p.m. Admission is $7.00 for adults and $4.00 for students and senior citizens with Stonehill students admitted free of charge when presenting their "Hill Card" at the door.

Stonehill and Southern New Hampshire will meet again on Saturday for a Northeast-10 Conference matchup as part of "A Day of Hockey" at Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10.00 each and will also earn admission to that night's American Hockey League (AHL) contest between the Manchester Monarchs, affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, and Worcester Sharks, affiliate of the San Jose Sharks, at 7 p.m. The first 2,000 fans will receive a Monarchs winter hat courtesy of McDonald's.
