Manna Earns Second-Straight NE-10 Goaltender of the Week Award

Framingham, Mass., native selected for second-straight week to open the season

EASTON, Mass. (November 16, 2009) - Stonehill College junior Michael Manna (Framingham, Mass./Xaverian Brothers) has been named the Northeast-10 Goaltender of the Week for the second-straight week by the Conference office today.

Manna, who earns the award for the sixth time in his career, averaged 31.5 saves while posting a 2.51 goals against average and .926 save percentage with one shutout in a 1-1 week for Stonehill. He posted 30 saves in Wednesday's 3-0 shutout victory over Johnson & Wales University, and then followed that up with 33 stops, while yielding five goals, in Saturday's setback at Curry College.

Manna also earned the award last Monday following Stonehill's opening week. He stopped 69 of the 75 shots on goal he faced over two appearances for the Skyhawks, posting a 1-0-1 record and 2.88 GAA with a .920 save percentage for the week.

Manna has started four of Stonehill's five games so far this season, logging 244:46 of ice time. He leads the Northeast-10 with his 2.70 goals against average and .923 save percentage, while averaging 33 saves per game.

Manna, the 2007-08 NE-10 Goaltender of the Year as a freshman to also earn Freshman of the Year honors, has started 33 of the 35 games he has played over his career and posted a 3.07 goals against average and .911 save percentage with two career shutouts in 1,991:45. He posted his 1,000th career save last week and enters this week's play with 1,040 stops over his career so far (29.7/gm).

Also earning honors last week with Manna was senior captain Peter Roundy (Simsbury, Conn./Kimball Union) who was named the NE-10 Player of the Week following Stonehill's opening week. He led the Skyhawks to a 1-1-1 week with two goals and an assist for three points, posting one power-play goal. Roundy registered a goal and assist in Stonehill's 3-3 overtime draw at Becker College.

Stonehill (2-2-1, 0-0-0 NE-10) is back in action with a pair of games this week to open its Northeast-10 schedule. The Skyhawks host Assumption College at the Foxborough Sports Center on Wednesday at 7 p.m., before visiting Franklin Pierce University on Saturday at 7 p.m.
