Roundy Named NE-10 Player of the Week

Simsbury, Conn., native honored for third time this season

EASTON, Mass. (February 8, 2010) - Stonehill College senior captain Peter Roundy (Simsbury, Conn./Kimball Union) has been selected as the Northeast-10 Player of the Week for ice hockey by the Conference office this afternoon.

Roundy earns Player of the Week honors for the third time this season after leading Stonehill to a 1-1-0 week with three goals for three points, including a power-play and game-winning tally for the week. He scored what proved to be the game-winning goal with 4:41 remaining in the second period of Wednesday's 4-3 victory at Framingham State College. The captain followed that up with a pair of goals, including one on the power-play, in Saturday's 5-4 setback to Assumption College. His power-play goal sparked the Skyhawks rally from three goals down late in the first period, then added his second marker 9:32 into the third to knot the score at 4-4 before the Greyhounds notched a late winner.

Roundy has played all 20 games for Stonehill this season and leads the team with 22 points (6^th NE-10) and 13 assists (9^th) to with nine goals (9^th). He ranks second in the NE-10 with 13 power-play points, collecting a team-best four goals (6^th) and nine assists (3^rd) on the Skyhawks power-play this season, while netting a team-leading three game-winning goals. Roundy has collected at least a point in each of Stonehill's six games since returning from its mid-season break, scoring a goal in the last three-straight, with four goals and three assists for seven points in that stretch.

Roundy has played 93 games over his four-year career at Stonehill and has totaled 27 goals and 57 assists for 84 points. He ranks sixth in program history for career assists.

Stonehill (8-11-1, 1-5-0 NE-10) is back in action on Saturday, when it opens a key NE-10 home and home series with Southern New Hampshire University in Hooksett, N.H., at 7 p.m. The Skyhawks then host the Penmen at the Foxborough Sports Center next Tuesday, February 16, at 7 p.m. Stonehill can clinch its first NE-10 points of the season with a win or tie in just one of the two remaining games with SNHU in the regular season series.
