Manchester, N.H. - In the final game of the regular season, the Stonehill Skyhawks fell to 1-4 in NE-10 play, dropping a 4-1 decision to the St. Anselm at Sullivan Arena on Thursday night.

The Hawks scored the lone goal of the first period just over the midway point when senior tri-captain Joe Fernald passed it to Coleman Noonan who hit the trailing Michael Adams to beat freshman goalie Tyler Jackson (Little Silver, N.J.) to make it 1-0. St. Anselm netminder Kevin Fairweather meanwhile, was only forced to make five stops against Stonehill in the period.

In the second, The Hawks extended their lead on a goal from Ryan Butler at the 4:28 mark for the 2-0 lead. Stonehill managed to cut the lead in half with just under three minutes left in the second on Paul Reissfelder's (Plymouth, Mass.) team-leading 11th goal of the season off assists from junior Pete Roundy (Simsbury, Conn.) and senior Bill Ninteau (Litchfield, N.H.) to make it 2-1 going into the final period.

The final stanza was all Hawks as senior defenseman Mike Nunzianto scored just 19 seconds into the period to make it 3-1. St. Anselm sophomore Jim Toomey then scored on a pass from John Penny on a two-on-one for the 4-1 final with just under seven minutes remaining.

Fairweather made 29 saves while allowing only one goal in the win for the Hawks, while Jackson, making his first career start, stopped 27 shots for the Skyhawks in the losing effort.

Stonehill drops to 8-12-1 on the season and will return to action on Saturday when they travel to take on Franklin Pierce at 3:00 p.m.
