Easton, Mass. - The Skyhawks scored five third period goals and had seven different players put one in net, ending a two game slide with a 7-1 victory over Framingham St. on Tuesday evening

Both teams came out aggressive in the first ten minutes of action, but neither team was able to break through, including a 1-0 breakaway by the Rams.

The Skyhawks finally broke through in the 15th minute of action. Zachary Cantin (Saugus, Mass.) took the puck at the blue line and dribbled it up the right side of the ice until he found a streaking John Sommers (Manchester, Conn.) who one timed the wrister past Terrance Sullivan.

Stonehill continued to fire away but came up empty the rest of the period despite getting 14 shots on goal.

The Skyhawks continued to outshoot Framingham in the second period, but initially came up empty.  With just under ten minutes remaining in the half, Andrew Diozzi (Belmont, Mass.) doubled the Stonehill lead when he took the puck on the right side dribbled by a defender and ripped a shot the hit the right post before going in.

The Rams wouldn't go down quietly however, as Brett Casavant scored on a power play with just under seven minutes left in the period on a slap shot from just inside the blue line to cut the lead in half.

In the third, Stonehill starting converting on their shots, as freshman Tim Mathews, (Mattapoisett, Mass.)  in his first game of the season, scored his first career goal on a nice dish from Chris Rogers (Westford, Mass.) less than two minutes into the period.

The Skyhawks extended their lead to 4-1 on a James Florentino (West Roxbury, Mass.) power play goal off a pass from Brendan O'Brien (Braintree, Mass.).

Stonehill wasn't done, scoring twice in a 30 second span.  First Paul Reissfelder (Plymouth, Mass.) scored and that was followed up by James Killeen's (Derry, N.H.) first career goal on a slap shot from just inside the blue line with just over 14 minutes remaining.

The Skyhawks would tack on one more goal before the end of the period from  Pat Greene (for the 7-1 tally.  Derek Chapdelaine (Granby, Mass.) made 28 saves in net for his fourth win of the season.

The win improves Stonehill to 6-9 on the season as they return to action on Thursday to play host to Westfield State.
