O'Brien's Career Milestone Helps Stonehill Past Plymouth State

Waterville Valley, N.H. - The Skyhawks (10-7-1, 2-1 NE-10) make three straight wins behind a career milestone from junior captain Brendan O’Brien (Braintree, Mass./Deerfield Academy).  O’Brien’s assist in the second period moved him into first place on Stonehill College’s all-time list.  Brendan’s record-breaking 82nd career assist came on the Skyhawks’ game-winning goal in their 4-1 win over Plymouth State (8-11-3, 5-6-2 ECAC) Monday night.

Senior Rob Carpenter (Cohasset, Mass./Cohasset) started the Skyhawks’ scoring spree 4:06 into the first period.  Carpenter’s second goal of the season gave the visiting team an early 1-0 lead.

Three goals in the second period put Stonehill on the fast track to their 10th victory, and their fifth win in the last six games.

Anthony Zanetti’s (Ludlow, Mass./Springfield Catherdral) short handed goal midway through the period put Stonehill up, 2-0.  Paul Reissfelder’s (Plymouth, Mass./Tilton) eighth goal of the season spotted his team a 3-0 lead over his hometown team.

O’Brien punctuated his record-setting night with score 16:53 in the second frame.  He finished with two points on the evening.

In addition to his game-winning goal, Zanetti registered two assists for three total points.  Bill Ninteau (Litchfield, N.H./Bishop Guertin), Chase Feole (Windham, N.H./Salem) and Brian Davis (Foxboro, Mass./Foxboro) each had one assist.

Goaltender Mike Manna (Framingham, Mass./Xaverian) had another impressive night for the Skyhawks inbetween the pipes.  His 40 saves held Plymouth State to a lone goal in the final period.  Manna improved his personal record to 7-3.

The Skyhawks return home Wednesday to take on Southern New Hampshire in a non-conference game.  Game time is scheduled for 7:50 p.m.
