Manna Earns Top Honors in NE-10 Postseason Superlatives

Easton, Mass. - Stonehill's net minder Mike Manna (Framingham, Mass./Xaverian) was named 2007-2008 Northeast-10 Conference Goaltender of the Year after his rookie campaign in net for the Purple and White.  The Skyhawk's freshman helped win six of eight games down the stretch after Stonehill's 1-4-1 start.  Manna's effort kept Stonehill in contention for the regular season championship throughout the season.

Manna started 16 games, posting an 8-7-1 personal mark.  The freshman goaltender finished second in the Northeast-10 Conference in goals against average (2.98) and save percentage (.912).  His .531 winning percentage ranked third, as well.

The Stonehill rookie was also awarded Co-Freshman of the Year honors along with Sean Woodring of Franklin Pierce.  Manna finished the year as a three-time NE-10 Goalkeeper of the Week and five-time NE-10 Freshman of the Week.

Three Skyhawks, including Manna, appear on 2007-2008 Northeast-10 Conference First team.  Team captain Brendan O'Brien (Braintree, Mass./Deerfield) finished with eight goals and 22 assists.  His 30 total points (1.20 ppg) ranks third in the Conference, one point behind Franklin Pierce's Joseph Fields for the second spot.

O'Brien achieved two career milestones in the 2007-2008 season.  He became the College's 12th skater to register 100 career points with four assists against Franklin Pierce on December 10th.  On February 18th, O'Brien became Stonehill's all-time assist leader with a second period, short-handed helper.  Brendan's 117 career points sits seventh on Stonehill's all-time list.  He is 43 points away from Rob Pascale's 160 mark set in 2004.

Bill Ninteau (Litchfield, N.H./Bishop Guertin) was named to the 2007-2008 NE-10 Conference's first team.  His five goals and 13 assists finished 11th in Conference scoring.  Bill's 18 total points in 24 games (0.75 ppg) ranked third among defensemen in the NE-10.  Ninteau, a junior, registered 10 goals and 23 assists in his 50 career games for the Skyhawks.

Senior Matt Curran (Scarborough, Maine/North Yarmouth) earned a spot on the 2007-2008 NE-10 Conference's Second team.  Curran, an assistant captain, led the Skyhawks with 12 goals.  His 23 total points and 12 goals scored both finished sixth in Conference standings.

Matt became the 13th player to claim 100 career points with an assist in Stonehill's 4-2 loss to Southern N.H. on February 20th.  Curran earned Co-Northeast-10 Player of the Week, with O'Brien, on December 18th, after registering a goal and two assists in Stonehill's 6-1 victory.  He was also named to the 2007-2008 Northeast-10 Men's Ice Hockey All-Academic Team this semester.

Matt totaled 95 games played during his Stonehill career, good for fourth all-time - three behind classmate Anthony Zanetti's (Ludlow, Mass./Springfield Cathedral) 98 games.  Curran's 61 career goals tied for fifth with Tom Stover (1990-1994) in Stonehill's record books.  Curran recently passed Stonehill Hall of Famer, Tim Quill (1989-1993) on his way to the fifth spot.  Matt ends this career tenth all-time with 105 career points
