Skyhawks Goalie Named Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week

Northeast-10 Release

Easton, Mass. - Goaltender Mike Manna (Framingham, Mass.) was named Northeast-10 Conference Freshman of the Week after registering 25 saves in Stonehill's 11-2 victory over the Worcester State College Lancers.  Today marks the second time the Skyhawk rookie has received the honor.

Since being named starter on December 8th, Stonehill has won three straight games with Manna between the pipes.  The Skyhawks, who started the season 1-4-1, were able to even their record at 5-5-1 (2-1 NE-10) after dominating Worcester State College at the Bridgewater Ice Arena, Saturday evening.

The win improved Manna's personal record to 3-1.  His save percentage (.896) and goals against average (3.23) rank second in the Northeast-10 Conference. Manna's shut down defense combined with the Conference's highest scoring offense (4.27 goals per game) have led to the Skyhawks outscoring their opponents 21-6 during their current streak.

In addition to earning Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week honors for the second time, Manna earned back-to-back Goaltender of the Week accolades after wins over Assumption and Franklin Pierce.

The Skyhawks return to action tomorrow night to take on Wentworth College at the Bridgewater Ice Arena.  The puck drops at 7 p.m.
