Framingham, Mass. – Two goals in the final period from assistant captains Matt Curran (Scarborough, Maine/North Yarmouth) and James Florentino (West Roxbury, Mass./Xaverian) propelled the visiting Skyhawks past the Framingham State Rams (1-20-1) Tuesday evening.  The Skyhawks’ (9-7-1, 2-1 Northeast-10) have won four of their last five games dating back to the January 31st win over Western New England College, 4-3.

Stonehill fell behind early, 1-0, when Framingham’s Jason Anderson slipped an opening marker past goaltender Pete Lucchesi (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee).  The Skyhawks’ answered back midway through the period with back-to-back scores, first from Paul Reissfelder (Plymouth, Mass./Tilton School) on a power play followed by Pete Roundy (Simsbury, Conn./Kimball Union).

A 2-1 Stonehill lead in the third period was snapped by the Rams’ Jason Akstin, who scored just three minutes into the final frame.  Teammate Sean Maguire scored ten seconds later to put the host team up, 3-2.

Curran tied the score at 3-3 with under five minutes remaining.  The score was Curran’s team-leading tenth marker of the year.  With 2:11 remaining, it was Florentino who once again was the hero for the Skyhawks.  His game-winning goal gave Stonehill the final lead, 4-3.

Freshman goaltender Lucchesi finished with 32 saves to improve his record to 2-2.  The Skyhawks were out-shot by the Rams 42-35.

In addition to his late goal, Curran also registered an assist in the first period.  Brendan O’Brien (Braintree, Mass./Deefield Academy), Chase Feole (Windham, N.H/Salem) and Bill Ninteau (Litchfield, N.H./Bishop Guertin) each added helpers, as well.  Senior Brian Davis (Foxboro, Mass./Foxboro) claimed two assists, one on Florentino’s game-winner.
