2007-2008 ECAC Northeast All-Academic Hockey Team Named

2007-08 ECAC Northeast All-Academic Team

Commissioner of the ECAC Rudy Keeling announced today the ECAC Northeast All-Academic team for the 2007-08 season. This marks the sixth year that the conference has named an All-Academic team; a total of 83 student-athletes representing 16 of 17 ECAC Northeast teams earned this honor based on outstanding performance in the classroom.

To be named to the All-Academic team, the student-athlete must have completed at least one academic year, have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.00 on a 4.00 scale, and have competed in at least one-half of his team's contests during the current season (a goaltender must have played at least 33 percent of his team's minutes).

Three seniors and one junior from Stonehill College's 2007-2008 team where selected to the ECAC Northeast All-Academic team.  They are seniors Matt Curran (Scarborough, Maine./North Yarmouth), Brian Davis (Foxboro, Mass./Foxboro), Anthony Zanetti (Ludlow, Mass./Springfield Cathedral) and junior John Sommers (Manchester, Conn./Kent School).  The Skyhawks represent four of 19 players from the Northeast-10 Conference to receive the ECAC honor.

The Skyhawks finished with the best overall record in the Northeast-10 Conference, 12-11-2.  Their season was cut short, however by Saint Michael's College in the Northeast-10 Conference Semifinals.
