Northeast-10 Release
Easton, Mass. - Senior Matt
Curran (Scarborough, Maine) and Junior Brendan
O'Brien (Braintree, Mass.) were named Co-Northeast-10
Conference Players of the Week on Monday. The honor caps a
great week for Stonehill Ice Hockey, having won three of their last
four contests headed into break.
O'Brien, the reigning Northeast-10 Player of the Year, registered
four assists in Stonehill lone contest last week, a 6-1 victory
over Franklin Pierce. The assists put O'Brien over 100 point
mark for his career. Brendan currently leads the Skyhawks
with 13 points from four goals and nine assists.
Curran was one of six Skyhawks to find the back of the net against
Franklin Pierce. He also registered two assists in the
Conference win. Matt currently leads the Skyhawks with six
goals scored. His 92 career points put him only eight away
from joining O'Brien with 100 career points.
This is the second time Stonehill has received Player of the Week
honors. John Durkin (Scituate, Mass.) was
also named Northeast-10 Player of the Week after recording two
goals and an assist opening week of the season.
Mike Manna (Framingham, Mass.) earned both Freshman of the Week and Goaltender of the Week for his 32 save performance. The win over Franklin Pierce improved Manna's personal record to 2-1. This is the second consecutive week Manna has received Goaltender of the Week. All three of Stonehill's freshman goaltenders have received the honor.
The Northeast-10 Conference's Weekly Honor Roll is littered with Skyhawks, as well. Senior Chase Feole (Windham, N.H.) made his first appearance after scoring an early goal against Franklin Pierce, while Juniors Bill Ninteau (Litchfield, N.H.) and Paul Reissfelder (Plymouth, Mass.) both made the Honor Roll after each registered a goal and an assist last week.
The Skyhawks return to action January 26th, hosting Worcester State.
