BRIDGEWATER, Mass.-- Junior Matt Curran (Scarborough, Maine) netted a pair of goals and sophomore James Florentino (West Roxbury, Mass.) added three assists to lead Stonehill to a 4-2 non-league college ice hockey victory over Nichols Wednesday evening at the Bridgewater Ice Arena.

Curran staked the host Skyhawks (6-10) to an early 1-0 lead just 6:17 into the contest on a Florentino feed, but the visiting Bison (11-7-1) evened matters at the 10:22 mark when senior Zach Lindsay (Enfield, Conn.) converted passes from senior Corey Horner (South Bend, Ind.) and sophomore Cole Ruwe (Pekin, Ill.). Junior John Durkin (Scituate, Mass.) gave Stonehill a 2-1 edge just 34 seconds later on Florentino's second helper of the game, and sophomore Frank Amato (West Springfield, Mass.) extended that margin to 3-1 after 40 minutes of play on assists off the sticks of senior Evan Spencer (Billerica, Mass.) and junior Anthony Zanetti (Ludlow, Mass.) 6:22 into the middle stanza. Nichols closed back to within one 8:30 into the final frame when sophomore Kyle Cook (Chino Hills, Calif.) netted a power play marker on an assist from senior Jason Arrighie (Cranston, R.I.), but Curran's second tally of the night just 1:27 later on assists from Florentino and sophomore Brendan O'Brien (Braintree, Mass.) iced the Skyhawk triumph.

Senior Josh Green (Mendon, Mass.) picked up the win in goal for Stonehill with a 25-save effort, while freshman Matt Gassman (Littleton, Colo.) made 24 stops in net for Nichols as the Skyhawks outshot the Bison by a 28-27 margin for the contest.

Stonehill heads to Worcester, Mass. on Saturday evening to take on Assumption in a Northeast-10 Conference outing that faces off at 7:30 p.m., while Nichols heads to Purchase, N.Y. on Saturday afternoon to take on Manhattanville in a non-league match-up that begins at 2:00 p.m.
