Goals by LaCroix and sophomore Ryan Moreau (Worcester, Mass.) in the first 40 minutes of play gave the host Panthers (1-1, 1-0 ECAC Northeast) a 2-0 edge after two periods of play, and Plymouth State received third period markers off the sticks of LaCroix, senior Dennis Kane (Westford, Mass.) and junior Andy Herlihy (Bow, N.H.), including a pair of tallies that came 1:30 late in the contest, to account for the final score.

Sophomore Deni Bojadzic (Gothenburg, Sweden) added a pair of assists in the win for the Panthers, as Helgesson made 31 of his stops in the first two periods alone.

Senior Billy Petrucci (East Bridgewater, Mass.) and juniors Josh Green (Mendon, Mass.) and Matt Gorman (Southboro, Mass.) combined for 28 saves in goal in the setback for the visiting Skyhawks (1-1, 0-1 ECAC Northeast), as Gorman made 10 stops in the final 20 minutes of action while Petrucci and Green each made nine saves.
