AUBURN, Mass.-- Freshmen Anthony Monte (Chicago, Ill.) and Kyle Cook (Chino Hills, Calif.) each netted hat tricks to lead Nichols to a 9-2 non-league college ice hockey victory over Stonehill Saturday evening at Horgan Rink.

The host Bison (3-0) jumped out to a 4-0 first period lead and added three more tallies in the second stanza to take a 7-0 advantage through 40 minutes of action, as the two teams traded markers in the final period. Nichols netted a pair of shorthanded tallies on the night and received a pair of assists each from junior Mark Malone (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and freshman Derek Porter (Bozeman, Mont.).

Sophomore Anthony Zanetti (Ludlow, Mass.) netted a goal and an assist in the setback for the visiting Skyhawks (1-3), who also received a goal off the stick of senior Brian Dudley (Waltham, Mass.) as well as single assists from sophomore Matt Curran (Scarborough, Maine) and freshman James Killeen (Derry, N.H.).

Freshman Keith Fink (Easton, Md.) picked up the win in goal for Nichols with a 37-save effort, including 22 first period stops, while seniors Billy Petrucci (East Bridgewater, Mass.) and juniors Matt Gorman (Southboro, Mass.) and Josh Green (Mendon, Mass.) combined for 35 stops in net for Stonehill as the Bison outshot the Skyhawks by a 44-39 margin for the contest.

Stonehill hosts Fitchburg State in an ECAC Northeast outing on Tuesday evening at the Bridgewater Ice Arena beginning at 8:00 p.m., while Nichols hosts Salve Regina in an ECAC Northeast contest on Monday evening at Horgan Rink beginning at 7:30 p.m.
