Fadojutimi leads Ravens 16 three-pointer barrage with 41 points

RINDGE, N.H. (February 12, 2020) – Franklin Pierce University buried 16 three-pointers, connecting on 45.7-percent from long range, on its way to an 85-76 victory over Stonehill College, ranked No. 8 in the D2SIDA East Region poll, in Northeast-10 Conference men's basketball action at the Franklin Pierce Fieldhouse tonight.

Franklin Pierce moves within a half game of Stonehill for second place in the NE10's Northeast Division with the game tonight, pulling even in the loss column, a game behind first place Saint Anselm College and game ahead of Bentley University. The Skyhawks, who clinched a spot in the upcoming NE10 Tournament for the 33rd time over the weekend, have three games remaining in its regular season schedule, along with Saint Anselm, while the Ravens and Bentley have four games to play.

Will Moreton Senior, Guard: Tenth double-double of the season (29th career) with 26 points (8-for-15, 4-for-7 three-pointers, 6-for-7 FTs), including 19 in the second half, with season-high matching 14 rebounds, two assists and a steal.

Owen Chose Junior, Guard: 23 points (9-for-15, 5-for-9 threes), including 14 in the first half, two rebounds and two steals.

Brandon Twitty Senior, Guard: 11 points, three assists and two steals.

Michael Boen Senior, Guard: Nine points (4-for-6), five rebounds (four offensive) and an assist.

Doyin Fadojutimi Senior, Guard: 41 points (14-for-19, 9-for-13 threes, 4-for-6 FTs), eight rebounds, two steals and two blocked shots.

Sean Fasoyiro Junior, Guard: 13 points (4-for-5, 2-for-2 threes), including 12 in the first half, and two rebounds off the bench.

Maxwell Zegarowski Sophomore, Forward: 11 points (3-for-5 threes), two rebounds and an assist off the bench.

    Franklin Pierce buried 16 three-pointers, including ten in the first half when it led by as much as 12, but it was Fadojutimi's ninth of the night with 33-seconds remaining after Stonehill rallied to within a possession (77-74) that was the key to sealing the Ravens win as the hosts converted five of six free-throws the rest of the way.
  • Franklin Pierce, which led by as much as 14 (55-41) in the second half, still held a ten-point cushion (77-67) after a Zegarowski triple with 3:21 to play. Moreton answered the three with a triple of his own and added two free-throws, before sophomore Andrew Sims capped the seven-point spurt with a layup to draw the Skyhawks within three (77-74) with 47-seconds left.
  • Fadojutimi followed with a three-pointer after a timeout, and while Twitty made two of three free-throws on Stonehill's next possession to draw the Skyhawks within four (80-76) with 27-seconds to go, the guests would get no closer with the Ravens closing the game out at the line.
  • Stonehill scored the first eight points of the game, opening with a Boen three-point play and then capped by a Chose three-pointer, who scored five points in all during the opening flourish in the first three minutes.
  • Franklin Pierce netted nine straight points, including six by Fasoyiro, to grab the lead (12-11) five minutes later, but Stonehill reclaimed the lead (16-12) after a Chose three with 10:43 to play in the first half.
  • Franklin Pierce outscored Stonehill 23-7 over the next nine minutes to grab a 12-point lead (38-26) after a three-point play from freshman Antonio Chandler with 1:32 left in the half.
  • Twitty hit a three-pointer to pull Stonehill back within nine (42-32) at the half and then Moreton scored the first basket of the second to draw the Skyhawks within seven (41-34).
  • Fadojutimi connected with a three to restore Franklin Pierce's ten-point lead (46-36) two minutes later and then the Ravens used a 7-0 run to grab their game-high 14-point lead (55-41) after a layup from Chandler with 13:26 to play.
  • Stonehill overcame 34.4-percent shooting in the first half, including 6-for-16 (37.5%) from three-point range, to shoot 55.2% (16-29) in the second, including 5-for-11 (45.5%) from deep.
  • Franklin Pierce finished shooting 48.3% (28-for-58) from the floor, including 16-for-35 (45.7%) from deep, connecting at 51.7% (15-29) in the second half, but hit 10-of-17 (58.8%) three-pointers in the first half.

  • Moreton's 26 points give him 1,750 in 109 career games, moving within seven points of Ryan Logan, '17 (1,757) for fifth place on Stonehill's career scoring list. Moreton's 14 rebounds give him 801 for his career.
  • Chose's 23 points give him 901 career points in 76 games.
  • Franklin Pierce's bench outscored the Stonehill reserves 33-10, but outside of Fadojutimi, the Ravens starters were a combined 3-for-23 (13%) shooting, while their reserves shot 68.8% (11-for-16) on the night, including 5-for-7 from three.
