Largey Earns Third Spalding/NE10 Rookie of the Week Honor

EASTON, Mass. (February 13, 2017) – Stonehill College freshman forward Daniel Largey (Oceanport, New Jersey/Peddie School) has earned Spalding/Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week honors for the third time this season by the league office this afternoon.

Largey averaged 17 points on 56-percent shooting from the field (10-for-18), including 5-for-10 (50%) from three-point distance, while converting 9-of-10 free-throws (90%) in a 2-0 week for Stonehill. He also contributed 3.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and a steal per game over the two road wins as the Skyhawks look to solidify a spot in the upcoming NE10 Tournament. Largey opened the week with a team-high 18 points on 4-of-9 shooting from the field, converting all eight free-throw attempts, to go with three rebounds, two assists and two steals in Tuesday's 85-77 comeback win at Merrimack. He followed that up with 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting, including 3-for-4 from beyond the arc, with four rebounds in Saturday's 70-67 win at Assumption.

Largey has played all 24 games for Stonehill in his freshman season, starting nine, and is tied for second on the team in scoring with 12.0 points per game, leading the NE10 and ranking second nationally in Division II for three-point field goal percentage, connecting at 53.1-percent (60-for-113), shooting 54.8-percent from the field overall (10th NE10) and converting 78.6-percent of his free-throws (33-42). He is also contributing 3.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 23.8 minutes per game.

Largey has reached double-figures in scoring 14 times this season, with three 20-plus scoring outings, including a season-high 31 points in just his second collegiate game, a win over Queens (N.Y.) College on November 12, when he canned 8-of-10 three-pointers as part of 10-of-14 shooting overall. He matched a program record with nine three-point field goals, on 11 attempts, for 29 points in a win at The College of Saint Rose on December 12. Largey has connected on three-plus three-pointers nine times this season, including a perfect 5-for-5 afternoon from deep in a win at Pace University on January 14.

Stonehill (14-10, 9-9 NE10) is back in action on Wednesday when it hosts Saint Anselm College, ranked eighth in this week's D2SIDA East Regional poll, for a key NE10 matchup at Merkert Gymnasium at 7:30 p.m. The Skyhawks wrap up the week at Southern New Hampshire University, ranked fourth in the region, on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
