EASTON, Mass. (November 14, 2016) – Stonehill College freshman forward Daniel Largey (Oceanport, New Jersey/Shore Regional) has been recognized following an impressive debut weekend by being named the Spalding/Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week by the league office.

Largey led Stonehill to a pair of season-opening wins at the Assumption College Tip-Off Classic over the weekend by averaging 21 points in 23 minutes per game off the bench, shooting 73.7-percent from the field (14-for-19), including an incredible 11-for-14 (78.6%) from three-point distance, while converting 3-of-4 (75%) free-throws for the weekend. He also contributed 5.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 3.0 steals per game for the week.

Largey poured in a season-high 31 points, including 18 in the first half, on 10-of-14 shooting, including 8-for-10 from three-point range, in Saturday's 98-68 win over Queens (N.Y.) College, with eight rebounds, three assists and three steals. The eight three-pointers finished one shy of the program's single-game record of nine set by Shaun Fein during the 1997-98 season. Largey totaled 11 points on 4-5 shooting, including 3-4 from deep, in his collegiate debut in Friday's 78-68 win over Nyack College with three rebounds and three steals.

Through the first weekend of the season, Largey ranks seventh among Northeast-10 scoring leaders with his 21 points per game. He leads the NE-10 and ranks sixth nationally in Division II for three-point field goal percentage (.786) and fourth nationally with a league-best 5.5 three-pointers per game. Largey also leads the NE-10 in steals per game (3.0), good for 34th nationally, and is third for field goal percentage (.737), 32nd in Division II.

Largey is a 2015 graduate of Shore Regional High School in New Jersey, before prepping one year at Peddie School. He was named the Jersey Shore News Player of the Year as a senior and was a two-time All-Division honoree, with first team honors as a senior. He was named to All-Shore first team his senior year and helped lead Shore to a 79-36 record over his four years, with three 20-win seasons, including a combined 47-13 over his junior and senior years.

Stonehill (2-0, 0-0 NE-10), receiving votes in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division II preseason poll, is back in action on Wednesday when it opens its Northeast-10 and home schedule against Assumption College at Merkert Gymnasium at 7:30 p.m. The Skyhawks close out the week with a rematch of the NCAA East Regional Championship with an NE-10 clash at Saint Anselm College on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
