Fredericktown, Ohio, junior leads Skyhawks to 2-0 week

EASTON, Mass. (January 25, 2016) – Stonehill College junior forward Ryan Logan (Fredericktown, Ohio/Fredericktown) has been named the Spalding Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week for men's basketball for the third time this season by the league office today.
Logan, who has now been named the Spalding NE-10 Player of the Week four times in his career with his three selections this season, led Stonehill to a 2-0 week as he averaged nearly a double-double with 25.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. He shot 58-percent from the field (21-for-36) for the week and also contributed 3.5 assists, 1.5 steals and a blocked shot per game over the two wins. Logan posted his eighth double-double of the season (18th career) to lead the Skyhawks to a 77-60 win at Adelphi University, ranked seventh in the D2SIDA East Region poll, on Wednesday with 25 points on 9-of-17 shooting from the field while converting 6-of-9 free-throws to go with 17 rebounds and two assists. He followed that up with a game-high 26 points on 12-of-19 shooting, five assists, two rebounds, two blocks and two steals in Saturday's 77-75 victory over American International College.

Senior forward Pierce Cumpstone (Bainbridge Township, Ohio/Kenston) was also recognized by the NE-10 on Monday with a spot on the weekly honor roll. He averaged 19.5 points per game on 64-percent shooting from the floor (16-for-25), converting 6-of-7 free-throws (85.7%), to go with nine rebounds, two blocked shots and a steal per game for the week. Cumpstone finished with 19 points, including the game winning basket as time expired, to lead the Skyhawks past American International on Saturday, on 9-of-15 shooting, a game-high nine rebounds and four blocked shots.
Logan, an All-Northeast-10 third team selection as a sophomore, ranks third in the NE-10 and 21st nationally with his eight double-doubles this season. He is averaging a team-high 19.7 points per game (4th NE-10) on 49.3-percent shooting from the field, including 39.2% (31-for-79) from three-point distance, while converting 71.9% (46-64) of his free-throws. Logan is second on the team with 8.6 rebounds (7th), four assists (8th) and 1.2 steals (10th) in a team-high 32.9 minutes per game. He has scored 20-plus points in eight of the Skyhawks 19 games this season, including a season-high 30 in a season-opening win over Post University on November 13.
Logan has scored in double figures all 19 games so far this winter, posting a string of 24 straight double-figure games dating back to last season. He became the 39th player in program history to reach the 1,000-point plateau against the University of New Haven on January 12 and has since moved up to 24th place on the program's career scoring list with 1,072 points.
Logan has started all 74 games of his Stonehill career, averaging 14.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists and a steal per game. He is a 45.6-percent shooter over his career, including 39.2% (87-222) from long distance, while converting 70.1% of his free-throws. Logan, an NE-10 All-Rookie Team pick as a freshman, has totaled 536 rebounds, 197 assists, 68 steals and 28 blocked shots in his career.
Stonehill (15-4, 10-3 NE-10), ranked fourth in this week's D2SIDA East Regional poll, is off until Saturday when it visits The College of Saint Rose for its final NE-10 divisional crossover contest of the season at 3:30 p.m. The Skyhawks return home next Wednesday, February 3, to host rival Bentley University, ranked second in this week's regional poll, in Merkert Gymnasium at 7:30 p.m.
