May-Thompson Named NE-10 Player of the Week

London, England, senior earns weekly award for first time in his career

EASTON, Mass. (December 17, 2012) – Stonehill College senior forward Raheem May-Thompson (London, England/Towson (Md.) Catholic) has earned Player of the Week honors from the Northeast-10 Conference this afternoon.

May-Thompson, who earns the weekly award for the first time in his career, shares the honors with Southern Connecticut State University senior Trevon Hamlet. May-Thompson led Stonehill to an 87-82 non-conference victory over Concordia (N.Y.) College on Sunday in the Skyhawks lone game of the week with a career-high 26 points on 13-for-20 shooting from the field, including 6-of-7 for 12 points in the first half, to lead five in double-figures and establish a new scoring career best for the second straight game. He also added five rebounds (four offensive), an assist, blocked shot and steal in 28 minutes off the bench.

May-Thompson has played all eight games, starting five, for Stonehill in his senior season and leads the team with 12.8 points per game, shooting 46.2-percent (43-for-93) from the field, while ranking second on the team with 5.3 rebounds and averaging 1.5 assists and a blocked shot in 24 minutes per game. He is averaging 10.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists and a blocked shot over 24.2 minutes per game through six NE-10 games.

May-Thompson has played 41 games over his two seasons at Stonehill since transferring from Quinnipiac University after his sophomore year. He averaged 6.9 points, four rebounds and 1.1 assists in 19.5 minutes per game off the bench in 2011-12, also totaling 20 blocked shots and 11 steals. He led the Skyhawks in scoring three times and rebounding twice, appearing in 21 NE-10 games and averaging 6.6 points and 4.2 rebounds in 18.9 minutes per game, also totaling 20 assists, 16 blocks and four steals.

May-Thompson played 49 games, starting 15, over two seasons at Quinnipiac, averaging 6.9 minutes per game and totaling 67 points, 47 rebounds, 12 assists, 11 blocked shots and eight steals over two years. He is a former member of the U-20 Great Britain National Team, earning England's Most Valuable Player on two occasions.

Stonehill (4-4, 2-4 NE-10) is off for a holiday break until Saturday and Sunday, December 29-30, when it hosts the East Region Classic at Merkert Gymnasium. The Skyhawks will battle Philadelphia University on Saturday, December 29, at 3 p.m., with Holy Family University and 17th-ranked Assumption College squaring off at 1 p.m. Concordia (4-9, 2-4 CACC) visits the University of New Haven on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
