IRELAND 2012: Men's Basketball Blog Day 2

Back to Men's Basketball Blog Index

Hi Everyone,

My name is Sam Markle and I am a rising senior for the Stonehill men's basketball team. Our current team and graduating seniors are currently enjoying our third day in Galway which is our first of three places to visit on our trip in Ireland. So far we have experienced so much in such a short time. We have shared traditional Irish meals together, met local people our age, and most recently toured the Bunratti Castle. The tour was great with a very educational and enthusiastic tour guide, but it was also nice because it allowed us to explore on our own as well.

Last night we had our first game against University of Limerick which we won 67-49. It was interesting to play by the FIBA rules which are different from what we are used to back home. Andre Tongo celebrated his 22nd birthday with a nice win. The other team was generous enough to hold a reception for both teams after the game. We have also had great weather for the past three days which seems to be rare around here. Today looks to be another sunny day as we head to the Cliffs of Moher for the day to enjoy a tour there and hang out by the beach. We have a team lunch and dinner planned together for later as well.

We have done alot in a short three days. Galway has proved to be a beautiful city which we plan to enjoy much more before we leave Saturday for Cork. We are looking forward to enjoying more wonderful weather and learning more about the Irish culture. My teamate Brian Hamor will be writing tomorrow's update. Hello to everyone at home.
