EASTON, Mass. (November 4, 2019) – Fourth-seeded Stonehill College opens its record-matching 21st Northeast-10 Conference Tournament appearance when it hosts fifth-seeded Assumption College, ranked No. 8 in the most recent Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II poll, for a quarterfinal round clash on Timothy J. Coughlin, '80 Memorial Field at W.B. Mason Stadium on Tuesday at 1 p.m.
Admission will be $6.00 for adults, $4.00 for students and senior citizens, with students from participating institutions with a valid ID admitted for $1.00. Stonehill students will be admitted free of charge, courtesy of Stonehill's Spirit Committee, with their HillCard. Tickets can be purchased online at stonehillskyhawks.com or at the W.B. Mason Stadium ticket area before the game. The game will be streamed live by SkyhawksVision on NE10 Now at portal.stretchinternet.com/Stonehill and available for television through the NE10 Now app on Apple TV, Android TV, Amazon Fire TV and Roku. Stonehill (11-5, 11-3 NE10) heads into its NE10 record-matching 21st NE10 Tournament, a total matched only by fellow participant Bentley University, the No. 6 seed. The Skyhawks look to reach the semifinal round for the eighth-straight year, having appeared in the NE10 Championship game seven times in program history, capturing the championship three times, with back-to-back titles in 2014 and 2015 to go with the 2005 championship. Assumption (15-3, 11-3 NE10) is in the NE10 Tournament for the sixth-straight year with its 11th appearance overall. The Greyhounds seek a third-straight semifinal trip and seventh finals appearance in search of their first championship.
Assumption and Stonehill finished the regular season tied in the NE10 standings, but the Skyhawks earned the No. 4 seed and hosting rights to tomorrow's quarterfinal by way of a 1-0 double-overtime triumph over the then 7th-ranked Greyhounds in the regular season encounter between the two at W.B. Mason Stadium on September 17. Sophomore Sophie Schreck scored the game's only goal 3:32 into the second overtime. Junior Katie Lammando posted three saves in notching her first career shutout for the Skyhawks, while sophomore Kylie Gargiulo posted six saves in the Assumption goal.

Tomorrow marks the 39th meeting all-time between these two programs – the sixth in postseason play. Stonehill holds a 26-12 advantage in the all-time series that dates back to 1996, including a 2-2 mark in the NE10 Tournament. Assumption posted a 1-0 overtime triumph over the Skyhawks in the 2002 NE10 Quarterfinals, before Stonehill notched a 2-1 win in the 2015 NE10 Championship and 1-0 win in the 2016 quarterfinals. Assumption added a 1-0 triumph in the last postseason encounter between the two in the 2017 NE10 semifinals at W.B. Mason Stadium.
The winner of tomorrow's quarterfinal advances to Friday's NE10 semifinal round to face the winner of tomorrow's matchup between 8th-seeded Franklin Pierce University (8-10, 7-7 NE10) and top-seeded and No. 4-ranked Saint Anselm College (16-2, 13-1 NE10) to be played at the site of the higher seed. The NE10 Championship is scheduled for Sunday at the home of the highest remaining seed at 1 p.m.
Stonehill heads into the postseason winners of four-straight, including back to back shutouts, playing its best field hockey of the season under first year head coach Annie Hansbury. The Skyhawks rank fourth in the NE10 for scoring offense (2.50 goals per game) and defense (1.21), ranking ninth nationally in Division II with for team goals against, while their 9.38 penalty corners per game rank second in the NE10 and seventh nationally.
Senior All-American Michaela Antonellis leads a Stonehill defensive backline that also includes junior McKenzie Woerner and freshman Andrea Caradonna in front of Lammando. Antonellis leads the Skyhawks with three defensive saves (4th NE10), while also leading the corner offense and contributing four goals and two assists for ten points. Lammando has played all but 45-minutes in the Stonehill cage this season and is fifth in the NE10 with a 1.20 goals against average (10th nationally) and .743 save percentage, while averaging 3.4 saves per game in 949:47 over 16 games, with five shutouts (4th NE10).

Sophomore Olivia Cameron leads a group of five underclassmen that provide a balanced attack for Stonehill with eight goals and four assists for 20 points in 16 games this season. Classmate Emma Mawn has dished out a team-high six assists (6th NE10) to go with six goals for 18 points, while freshman Mackenzie Quigley, an NE10 Rookie of the Week once this season, has contributed five goals and three assists for 13 points in 11 games. Schreck has added 12 points on four goals and four assists, chipping in a pair of defensive saves as well, while sophomore Elisha Brinkman rounds out double-figure scorers for the Skyhawks in front of Antonellis with four goal and three assists for 11 points.
Assumption, under the direction of head coach Annie Lahey in her ninth season, enters the postseason winners of three of four and 11 of 13 since the loss to Stonehill back in September. The Greyhounds boast the top offense in the NE10, ranking second nationally with 3.50 goals per game, while ranking second to national leader Saint Anselm with a 0.66 team goals against, which is good for fifth nationally, producing a Conference-leading 11.39 penalty corners per game (2nd nationally).
Junior Deirdre Burchill leads the NE10 with 14 goals (9th nationally), to go with five assists for 33 points to rank second in the Conference and 11th nationally, having netted four gamewinning goals. Sophomore Summer Walsh adds ten goals and two assists for 22 points, while senior Courtney Sickel rounds out the Greyhounds 20-point scorers with eight goals and four assists for 20 points. Sophomore Jenna Graf has dished out a team-high seven assists, which ranks fourth in the NE10 and 12th nationally, to go with two goals for 11 points.
Gargiulo has started all 15 of her games played in the Assumption goal and ranks second in the NE10 and fourth nationally with her 0.60 goals against average, to go with a .836 save percentage (2nd NE10, 3rd nationally), averaging 3.1 saves per game in 894:00, with ten shutouts (1st NE10).
