Antonellis nets winner with 4:37 remaining to lift Skyhawks

SEAFORD, N.Y. (October 1, 2019) – Senior Michaela Antonellis scored her first goal of the season with less than five minutes remaining in regulation to lift Stonehill College, ranked No. 10 in this week's Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II poll, to a 4-3 victory over Molloy College in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey action at Cedar Creek Park this afternoon.

Stonehill got goals from four different players, while sophomore Sophie Schreck dished out a career-high matching two assists, in the win. Antonellis's game-winner with 4:37 remaining in regulation is her first goal of the season and came off the Skyhawks 23rd penalty corner of the contest, answering a pair of third quarter goals by Molloy that knotted the score.

Sophomores Elisha Brinkman and Emma Mawn and freshman Mackenzie Quigley also netted goals for Stonehill. Junior Katie Lammando finished with four saves in goal for the Skyhawks, which won its second-straight game and fifth over their last six games.

Junior Olympia Moulton had a hand in all three goals for Molloy with a goal and two assists on the afternoon. Sophomores Jessica Kleber and Kyra Dalli also scored goals for the Lions, who are in their first NE10 season as associate members for field hockey. Freshman Ally Saigh kept Molloy in the game with 14 saves.

Moulton put Molloy in front with the opening goal, off a rebound, with 5:59 remaining in the first quarter. Stonehill was able to grab a halftime lead with two markers within a four-minute span late in the second. Quigley scored her second goal of the season off a rebound with 3:11 left and then Brinkman added her second of the year off a corner as time expired in the half off a pass from Schreck.

Mawn extended Stonehill's lead to two goals with her fifth goal of the season, and fourth in two games, 4:46 into the second half as she tipped in a Schreck pass. Molloy followed with two goals within a four-minute span late in the third quarter to knot the score. Moulton fed Kleber off a corner with 4:34 remaining in the quarter, and then Dalli evened the game with 37-seconds remaining off a Moulton pass. Antonellis was able to follow with her first career gamewinning goal in the fourth frame to clinch the victory for the Skyhawks.

Stonehill (5-3, 5-1 NE10) returns to action on Saturday, when it visits Saint Thomas Aquinas College for an NE10 matchup at 1 p.m. The Skyhawks are back home next Wednesday, October 9, to host third-ranked Saint Anselm College for their Purple and White Game at W.B. Mason Stadium at 3:30 p.m. Molloy (1-7, 1-5 NE10) hosts No. 7 Adelphi University on Saturday at 2 p.m.
