EASTON, Mass. (September 17, 2019) – Stonehill College, ranked No. 8 in the Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II poll, held the second-highest scoring offense in the Northeast-10 Conference scoreless for over 73-minutes in notching a 1-0 double-overtime triumph in NE10 field hockey action on Timothy J. Coughlin, '80 Memorial Field at W.B. Mason Stadium this afternoon.

Junior Katie Lammando backboned an outstanding defensive effort that held an Assumption team that came in averaging four goals per game scoreless for over 73-minutes. She registered three saves in posting her first career shutout, having now yielded just two goals over the last three games. Seniors Michaela Antonellis and McKenzie Woerner and freshman Andrea Caradonna led the defensive effort in front of Lammando, which held the Greyhounds to ten shots, including four in the second half and none in overtime, fending off six penalty corners.

Antonellis was also in the mix on the deciding goal off Stonehill's ninth penalty corner of the game (third in overtime). She took the corner pass at the top of the arc and connected with freshman Mackenzie Quigley on the right side, who then fired a pass across the front of the cage to sophomore Sophie Schreck for a one-timer at the far post to end the contest 3:30 into the second overtime period. It marks Schreck's third goal of the year, all coming over the last two games, and the second-straight game she has netted the game-winning goal. Quigley has now assisted on two-straight Stonehill goals after dishing out her first career helper on the final goal of Saturday's 5-1 win over Southern Connecticut State University.

Sophomore Kylie Gargiulo finished with six saves in goal for Assumption, including three in the first overtime, to keep Stonehill scoreless until yielding the winner against her former high school teammate from Daniel Hand High School in Madison, Connecticut.

Stonehill (2-2, 2-0 NE10) returns to action on Saturday, when it visits Franklin Pierce University for an NE10 matchup at noon. The Skyhawks return home the following Saturday, September 28, to host Pace University for its Senior Day at noon. Assumption (3-1, 0-1 NE10) visits Mercy College on Friday at 3 p.m.
