Cameron Earns NE10 Rookie of the Week Honors

EASTON, Mass. (October 16, 2018) – Stonehill College freshman Olivia Cameron has been recognized with Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week honors in field hockey by the league office today.

Cameron had a breakout performance for Stonehill in its 6-3 win over Franklin Pierce University on Tuesday night. She totaled two goals, including the gamewinner, and an assist for five points, marking the first multi-goal game of her career. She opened the scoring 11:10 into the contest when she knocked in a drive from the left side by senior All-American Kacie Smith at the doorstep. Cameron was then involved with two Stonehill goals less than three minutes apart in the opening 3:26 of the second half to give the Skyhawks a 5-1 lead. She potted her second of the game just 38-seconds into the half, and then assisted on Smith's second goal of the night at 38:26.

Cameron has started three of the nine games she has played in her first collegiate season at Stonehill and is ranked third on the team in scoring with seven points. Her three goals scored is also third on the team, while adding the one assist. She netted her first collegiate goal in the Skyhawks 9-0 victory over Saint Thomas Aquinas College on September 15.

Cameron came to Stonehill following a four-year career at Wakefield Memorial High School, where she was a two-time All-Middlesex League All-Star, earning the team's Spirit Award as a senior.

Stonehill (7-3, 3-2 NE10) is back in action tomorrow night when it visits Saint Anselm College for a Northeast-10 Conference matchup at 7 p.m. The Skyhawks visit the University of New Haven on Saturday at 7 p.m., before returning to W.B. Mason Stadium next Tuesday, October 23, to host American International College for their Faculty Appreciation Game at 7 p.m.
