NE10 Field Hockey Postseason Awards Announcement

EASTON, Mass. (November 1, 2017) – Stonehill College placed two of its field hockey freshmen on the Northeast-10 Conference's All-Rookie Team, as selected by the NE10's head coaches, the league announced today.

Freshmen Elaine Bachelder (South Berwick, Maine/Marshwood) and Taylor Ladue (Westminster, Massachusetts/Oakmont Regional) were both selected to the NE10 All-Rookie Team, marking the first time in two years Stonehill has placed first year student-athletes on the team. The duo give the program 14 All-Rookie Team selections since the NE10 started the award in 2008.

Bachelder has played all 18 games, starting 17, as a freshman in Stonehill's defensive unit. She has been an anchor on the Skyhawks backline, which has posted a 2.06 team goals against average, with six shutouts, which ranks fourth in the NE10. Bachelder has also chipped in with an assist, marking her first career point in a 9-0 win over American International College on September 8.

Ladue has appeared in 17 games in her first collegiate season and is fourth on the team with five goals, adding two assists for 12 points. She totaled a career-high five points with a career-best two goals and an assist in Stonehill's 12-0 win over the University on New Haven on September 17, marking her first career multi-goal game.

Stonehill (13-5, 10-2 NE10), ranked sixth in this week's Penn Monto/NFHCA Division II poll, is seeded No. 2 for its NE10 record matching 19th Conference Tournament appearance and after earning a first round bye, will host No. 6 Assumption College (11-8, 7-5 NE10) for a semifinal round matchup at W.B. Mason Stadium on Friday at 6 p.m. The winner advances to Sunday's championship, to be played at the home of the highest remaining seed, at 1 p.m.
