RINDGE, N.H. (October 7, 2015) – Stonehill College, ranked No. 10 in this week's Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II poll, got back on track with a 3-1 victory over Franklin Pierce University in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey action at Sodexo Field today.

Stonehill got goals from three different players and freshman Sara Freedman (Hopkinton, Massachusetts/Hopkinton) preserved the win with five saves, coming within a minute of her third shutout of the season. Franklin Pierce held a 10-7 edge in shots for the game and a 6-4 advantage for penalty corners. However, junior Sarah Morse (Westminster, Massachusetts/Oakmont Regional), sophomore Alexandria Sylvia (Brockton, Massachusetts/Brockton) and senior All-American Erika Kelly (Watertown, Massachusetts/Watertown) all scored goals for the Skyhawks.

Sophomore Meaghan Williams (Salem, New Hampshire/Salem) posted two stops in the Franklin Pierce goal. Freshman Reagan Moulton (Baldwinsville, Massachusetts/Narragansett Regional) scored the lone Ravens goal.

Stonehill put one of its two first half shots in the back of the cage to carry a 1-0 lead into halftime. Morse went to the post after her pass to start a penalty corner and tipped in a rebound off the initial shot by freshman Kacie Smith (Norwood, Massachusetts/Norwood) with 4:02 remaining in the first half.

Sylvia scored off feed from senior All-American Elizabeth Thornton (Needham, Massachusetts/Needham) 10:52 in the second half to double Stonehill's lead. Kelly gave the Skyhawks a three goal cushion with 9:09 to play with her NE-10 leading 11th goal of the season. She has now totaled 82 goals and 181 points in 71 career games played – nine goals shy of the Northeast-10 career record and good for fourth on the league's all-time scoring list. Kelly has at least a point in all 11 games this season and 12 straight dating back to last season.

Moulton broke up Freedman's shutout attempt by grabbing a late consolation marker, assisted by sophomore Erin Smith (Templeton, Massachusetts/Narragansett), for her fourth goal of her freshman campaign with a tick under a minute remaining off a corner.

Stonehill (7-4, 5-1 NE-10) is right back in action on Friday when it visits Bentley University at 4 p.m. The Skyhawks return home on Tuesday, October 13, to host Saint Anselm College at W.B. Mason Stadium at 7 p.m. Franklin Pierce (6-5, 2-4 NE-10) travels to Southern Connecticut State University on Saturday at 6 p.m.
