Field Hockey to Play 4 the Cure Saturday vs. Bentley

EASTON, Mass. (October 9, 2014) - The Stonehill College field hockey will be hosting its "Play 4 the Cure" game on Saturday when it hosts rival Bentley University for a Northeast-10 Conference matchup at W.B. Mason Stadium at noon.

Donations to the National Foundation for Cancer Research can be made at the game on Saturday and are also accepted online at http://www.nfcr.org/p4tc.

The National Foundation for Cancer Research's Play4theCure has entered into a fundraising partnership with the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA), making NFCR an official charity of NFHCA, providing robust resources and a recognized brand that enables NFHCA members to support cancer research, provide cancer prevention education, and early detection information to the public.

The new partnership will focus on integrating field hockey teams across the nation into the family of 500+ sports teams that already take part in NFCR's Play4theCure. Every dollar raised by the Play4theCure sports-based fundraising program will be dedicated to cancer research projects selected by each participating team.

The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) is a non-profit organization serving field hockey coaches and supporters of the game from across the United States. The mission of the organization is to stimulate the professional development of coaching leadership within the sport of field hockey. The NFHCA strives to cultivate and recognize the professional contributions of its membership and to foster and promote the growth of the sport.

Teams participating in Play4theCure receive branded and personalized support for their fundraising games from the National Foundation for Cancer Research.

Stonehill (6-1, 1-0 NE-10) is ranked fourth in this week's Penn Monto/NFHCA Division II poll entering Saturday's matchup with Bentley (5-3, 1-0 NE-10) at W.B. Mason Stadium. Following Saturday's matchup, the Skyhawks continue their five game homestand next Friday, October 17, when it hosts reigning NE-10 Champions LIU Post, ranked 6th nationally, at 6 p.m.
