Kelly, Sheehan and Ingersoll are consensus All-Americans
Sideris named to NFHCA second team for second-straight year
EASTON, Mass. (December 3, 2013) – A program-record matching four members of the Stonehill College field hockey team have earned All-America status, with three of the four achieving consensus All-America status by being named to both the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-America teams as well as All-America honors from synapsesports.com.
Senior back Gina Sheehan (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury) and sophomore forward Erika Kelly (Watertown, Mass./Watertown) are both consensus first team All-America honorees, while senior midfielder Devin Ingersoll (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) rounds out Stonehill's consensus All-America selections with second team honors by both organizations, marking her second-straight Longstreth/NFHCA award. Junior forward Emily Sideris (Watertown, Mass./Watertown) rounds out the Skyhawks All-America honors with her second-straight selection to the NFHCA second team. Stonehill's four All-Americans match the program record set in 2010 and bring its total number of Longstreth/NFHCA honorees to 22 all-time in program history.
Sheehan, the fourth Stonehill defender in program history to earn Northeast-10 Conference Defensive Player of the Year honors this fall, earns All-America honors for the first time in her career after also being named to the All-NE-10 first team. Sheehan led a Stonehill defensive unit which ranks fourth in the NE-10 and ninth nationally in Division II with a 1.78 team goals against average. The Skyhawks defense limited opponents to 11.5 shots, including 7.6 on goal, and 6.7 penalty corners per game and ranks fourth in the NE-10 with three shutouts. Sheehan has recorded one defensive save this season and has chipped in with a pair of assists.
Sheehan, who was named to both the womensfieldhockey.com Division II and NE-10 All-Rookie teams as a freshman, started all 84 of Stonehill's games over her four year career at the College. She has dished out five career assists and posted four defensive saves and been a key part of a Skyhawks defensive unit which is regularly ranked among the best in the Conference. Sheehan has earned Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA National Academic Squad honors as a sophomore and junior and been named to the NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll all six semesters so far and the Athletic Director's Honor Roll five semesters. Sheehan was also selected to represent Stonehill at the Front Rush/NFHCA Division II Senior All-Star Game this fall.
Kelly adds her first two All-America honors to her list of accolades from a record breaking sophomore season in which she was also a unanimous All-Northeast-10 first team selection. She took the Conference by storm in her second season at Stonehill, leading Division II with a program and Conference record 38 goals to go with two assists for a program-record and NE-10 record matching 78 points. Her 1.81 goals per game is a new Division II record while her 3.71 points per game led Division II and her point total shared the Division II lead. Kelly finished just two goals shy of the NCAA Division II record of 40 by Jamie Vanartsdalen of Bloomsburg (Pa.) University in 2008.
Kelly posted a school-record six hat tricks this season and led the NE-10 with ten gamewinning goals. She recorded at least a point in 19 of her 21 games played this year and was named the NE-10 Player of the Week on three occasions this fall. Kelly netted a career-best four goals in wins over 9th-ranked East Stroudsburg University on September 8 and Southern Connecticut State University on October 19. She registered 12 multi-goal games and has accounted for 46-percent of Stonehill's scoring output this season.

Kelly, an NE-10 All-Rookie Team selection as a freshman, has started 27 of her 40 career games played over two seasons at Stonehill. She is already tied for fourth all-time in program history with her 46 career goals, just seven shy of the career record of 53 set by Caitlin Gleason, '08. Kelly has also dished out four career assists and ranks sixth in program history with 96 career points – good for fourth all-time at Stonehill, 36 points shy of Gleason's career record.
Ingersoll earns Longstreth/NFHCA All-America second team honors for the second straight year to go with her first synapsesports.com All-America award. The two-time first team All-Northeast-10 pick has started all 22 games this season and leads the team with 11 assists to go with five goals for 21 points. Ingersoll has netted two gamewinning goals and also chipped in with a defensive save, ranking sixth in the NE-10 and 12th nationally for assists. She posted a season-high two goals in a 4-2 win at Saint Michael's College on September 14 as well as the Skyhawks overtime setback to 7th-ranked Merrimack College in the NCAA Tournament.
Ingersoll, who has also started all 84 of Stonehill's games over her four year career, earned Capital One Academic All-District and NE-10 Academic All-Conference honors for the first time as a junior. She has totaled 24 goals and 20 assists for 68 points over her collegiate career with seven gamewinners. Ingersoll posted a team-high 25 points her junior year with a team-best 12 goals to go with one assist. She ranks tenth in program history for career points, sixth all-time for career assists and ninth for career goals.
Ingersoll was named the Northeast-10 Rookie of the Year as a freshman in 2010 and was also a womensfieldhockey.com Division II and NE-10 All-Rookie team selection. She has been named to the Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA National Academic Squad three years to date and has earned NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll status all six semesters and Athletic Director's Honor Roll five times. She was also selected to participate in the Front Rush/NFHCA Division II Senior All-Star Game.
Sideris earns a spot on the Longstreth/NFHCA All-America second team for the second straight year after also being named to the All-Northeast-10 second team for the second straight season. She finished fifth on the team with her career-best eight goals to go with four assists for 20 points. Two of her seven goals this season are gamewinners and she posted a goal in five of seven games for the Skyhawks down the stretch to lead the team into postseason play, earning NE-10 All-Championship team honors in the process.
Sideris has started 26 of the 35 games she has played over her three year career at Stonehill. She has posted 12 goals, three gamewinners, and eight assists for 32 points over her career. Sideris has earned Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA National Academic Squad honors twice and received NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and Athletic Director's Honor Roll status all four semesters to date.
Stonehill finished the 2013 season with an 18-4 record overall, including an 8-2 clip in the Northeast-10. The Skyhawks are ranked fifth in the final regular season Penn Monto/NFHCA Division II and earned the fifth NCAA Tournament bid in program history after reaching the NE-10 Championship for a fifth time. Stonehill opened the season with a program-record 16-straight wins and fell just a win shy of the single-season record of 19 set in 2005.
