Genovese Collects NE-10 Goalkeeper of the Week Honors

Street, Md., junior named weekly award winner for second time this season 

EASTON, Mass. (October 29, 2013) – Stonehill College junior Elizabeth Genovese (Street, Md./North Harford) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Goalkeeper of the Week in field hockey by the league office this afternoon.

Genovese earns Goalkeeper of the Week honors for the second time this season (third career) by not yielding a goal in 108:07 in a 2-0 week for Stonehill, averaging two saves per game. She posted 59:39 of shutout work with four saves in Wednesday's 6-1 win at Franklin Pierce University and then capped the week with a scoreless 48:38 in Sunday's 7-0 victory over Dowling College without seeing a shot.

 Genovese has seen the majority of work in the Stonehill goal this season, posting a 1.66 goals against average (4th NE-10) and .708 save percentage with 3.9 saves per game (7th) and a shutout in 1,097:43 (3rd) over 16 starts, posting a 16-0 record (1st for wins). She ranks ninth nationally in Division II for goals against average, 17th for save percentage and 21st for saves per game. Genovese posted a career-high 12 saves in the Skyhawks 6-5 comeback win at then 9th-ranked East Stroudsburg University on September 8.

Genovese has started 38 of the 44 games she has played over her career and recorded a 2.09 goals against average and .689 save percentage with 184 saves and three shutouts in 2,781:11 with a 27-13 (.675) career record. She ranks sixth in program history for career saves and has earned NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll status all four semesters at the College for her work in the classroom.

Stonehill (16-0, 8-0 NE-10), ranked third in the most recent Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches' Association (NFHCA) Division II poll and first in the inaugural NCAA Division II North Regional rankings, opens a huge final week of the regular season tonight when it hosts 9th-ranked Merrimack College (12-4, 8-1 NE-10), ranked third in the region, for its Purple & White Game at W.B. Mason Stadium at 7 p.m. The Skyhawks close out the regular season Saturday at 3rd-ranked LIU Post, ranked second in the region, at noon.
