Kelly matches NE-10 single-season goals record, Ingersoll leads with goal and two assists
RINDGE, N.H. (October 23, 2013) – Stonehill College, ranked third in this week's Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II poll, remained unbeaten with a 6-1 victory over Franklin Pierce University in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey action at Sodexo Field tonight.
Sophomore Erika Kelly (Watertown, Mass./Watertown) scored two goals for Stonehill to match the Northeast-10 Conference single-season record of 30 set by Jen Bunce from Bentley University in 1998 and matched by her sister Allyson Bunce with Bentley in 2000 as well as Sammy Macy and Katie Enaire from the University of Massachusetts Lowell in 2010. Kelly's 30 goals this fall are a program record and leads NCAA Division II, while her program-record and Division II-leading 61 points are tied with Allyson Bunce for eighth in NE-10 history. Kelly now sets her sights on the NCAA Division II record of 40 goals score by Jamie Vanartsdalen of Bloomsburg (Pa.) University.
Senior All-American Devin Ingersoll (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) led Stonehill tonight with four points on a goal and two assists, including a goal and assist as the Skyhawks opened a 3-0 halftime lead. Junior All-American Emily Sideris (Watertown, Mass./Watertown), classmate Jennifer Foley (Holden, Mass./Notre Dame Academy) and sophomore Rachel Murphy (Worcester, Mass./Notre Dame Academy) chipped in with a goal apiece for the Skyhawks.

Junior Elizabeth Genovese (Street, Md./North Harford) made four saves without conceding a goal over the first 59:39 in goal for Stonehill. Freshman Dana Dhami (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) made one stop over the final 10:21. Stonehill finished with a 21-11 advantage in shots for the night and held a 14-4 edge for penalty corners.
Junior Adria Liseno (Somersworth, N.H./Somersworth) scored the lone goal for Franklin Pierce. Freshman Amy Zahensky (Bow, N.H./Bow) registered two saves over the first 56:38 in the Ravens cage before giving way to sophomore Erin Wood (Dover, N.Y./Dover) who posted four stops in the final 13:22 and yielded just one goal.
Stonehill wasn't able to break through until 19:11 into the first half when Ingersoll scored her third of the season with a shot from the top of the arc off a pass from senior back Gina Sheehan (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury). Sideris quickly doubled the Skyhawks lead less than three minutes later when she slotted a shot into the right side of the goal at 22:06 for her third goal of the year. Foley gave Stonehill a three goal cushion before halftime when she knocked in a pass from Ingersoll at the right post for her second goal of the fall at 31:40.
Kelly got on the scoreboard with her first of the night 7:11 into the second half when she took a pass from senior Kelly Gouveia (Dartmouth, Mass./Dartmouth) on a two on one and scored from close range. Ingersoll set up Kelly's record matching 30th goal of the year with a pass from the top of the circle off a corner for a drive from the left side at 51:07.
Murphy capped the Stonehill scoring with 1:21 left to play with her first goal of the year on the left side off a pass from freshman Shea Healy (Greenfield, Mass./Pioneer Valley). Liseno earned some consolation for Franklin Pierce with her first career goal with just one second on the clock when she knocked in a loose ball during a scramble in front of goal.
Stonehill (15-0, 8-0 NE-10) is back in action on Sunday when it hosts Dowling College for a non-conference matchup at W.B. Mason Stadium on Senior Day at 1 p.m. Franklin Pierce (2-12, 1-7 NE-10) travels to Assumption College on Saturday at noon.
