Ingersoll and Sideris collect All-Northeast-10 honors for Skyhawks
Kelly named to NE-10 All-Rookie Team
EASTON, Mass. (October 24, 2012) – Three members of the Stonehill College field hockey program have earned Northeast-10 Conference postseason honors as selected by the league's 11 head coaches.
Junior Devin Ingersoll (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) led Stonehill's honorees with first team All-Northeast-10 Conference honors, while sophomore Emily Sideris (Watertown, Mass./Watertown) earned second team All-NE-10 honors. Freshman Erika Kelly (Watertown, Mass./Watertown) rounds out the postseason honorees for the Skyhawks with a spot on the NE-10 All-Rookie team.
Ingersoll, the 2010 NE-10 Rookie of the Year, earns All-Northeast-10 honors for the first time with her selection to the first team. She leads Stonehill with 25 points (8th NE-10) on a team-high 12 goals (6th) with one assist in 18 games this season. Ingersoll has netted a team-high four gamewinning goals (3rd). Her goal total this season is tied for tenth on the program's single-season list.
Ingersoll has scored a team-best five goals to go with an assist for a team-high 11 points in ten NE-10 games this fall. She has posted a pair of multi goal games this season and scored the gamewinning goal with under three minutes to play in Saturday's 2-1 win at Saint Michael's College that clinched a postseason berth. Her three gamewinning goals in Conference play rank second among NE-10 leaders.
Ingersoll has started all 61 games over her three year career at Stonehill and totaled 19 goals and nine assists for 47 points. In addition to Rookie of the Year honors from the NE-10 her freshman year, she was also named to the NE-10 and womensfieldhockey.com Division II All-Rookie teams. Ingersoll has earned NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll status every semester at the College and Athletic Director's Honor Roll two semesters.
Sideris also collects her first All-Northeast-10 selection with a spot on the second team. She enjoyed a breakout season for Stonehill this fall, posting four goals and four assists for 12 points over 17 games played. She registered a team-high three assists (12th) in nine NE-10 games, adding a goal for five points. Sideris dished two assists in a 3-2 overtime win against American International and scored the gamewinning goal in a 3-0 triumph over Saint Michael's.
Sideris has started 11 of the 27 games she has played over her two seasons at Stonehill. She has earned NE-10 Commissioner's and Athletic Director's Honor Roll status two semesters at the College.
Kelly earns All-Rookie team honors in the NE-10 having made an immediate impact for Stonehill during her freshman season. She has started five of the 18 games she has played this season and ranks second on the team with eight goals (12th NE-10) to go with an assist for 17 points.
Kelly, named the NE-10 Rookie of the Week once this season, enters postseason play having scored a goal in three straight games and shares the team lead with Ingersoll with her five goals in ten NE-10 games, ranking second on the team with ten points in Conference play. She posted her first career multi goal game against No. 6 Merrimack on September 29.
Stonehill (9-9, 5-5 NE-10) is back in action tonight when it opens postseason play with an NE-10 Tournament first round clash at third-seeded University of Massachusetts Lowell, ranked sixth in this week's National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II poll, at 7 p.m. The winner advances to this weekend's semifinal round, hosted by top-seeded Merrimack College, to face second-seeded Bentley University on Saturday at 11 a.m.
