NE-10 Game of the Week: Assumption to Host Stonehill on Saturday in Northeast-10 Field Hockey Action

Game of the Week features Greyhounds and Skyhawks hitting the field in Worcester

SOUTH EASTON, Mass. – This weekend, Stonehill College travels to Assumption College for a Northeast-10 Conference field hockey matchup on Saturday (1:00 p.m.) at the Multi-Sport Stadium in Worcester, Mass.

THE MATCHUP: Stonehill (6-6, 2-2 NE-10) has won three of its last four entering Saturday's contest, including a 3-2 overtime victory over American International College on Tuesday. Host Assumption (7-6, 4-2 NE-10) lost its first four games of the season but has gone 7-2 since Sept. 8, including a 2-1 win at No. 7 Merrimack College on Sept. 26. Six of the seven victories have been decided by one goal.

THE COACHES: Stonehill head coach Shelley Morris is currently in her fifth year with the Skyhawks, compiling 62-36 (.633) record during her tenure. She has twice led Stonehill to the semifinal round of the NCAA Tournament.

Assumption second-year head coach Annie Lahey has already this year led the Greyhounds to their highest win total (7) since 2007, when Assumption won eight games.

THE SKYHAWKS: Junior Devin Ingersoll leads the Skyhawks in goals (10) and points (20) this season, while senior Brittany Ford has totaled six goals and four assists for 16 points. Junior Kelsey Davis and senior Chelsea Fizell are both in double figures in points as well with 11 apiece.

Sophomore goalkeeper Elizabeth Genovese has made 47 saves in nine games (six starts) for a 2.50 goals-against average, while senior Kaitlyn Curtis owns a 3-1 record in goal on the season.

THE GREYHOUNDS: Sophomore Paige Anderson (pictured) is currently tied for fifth in the Northeast-10 with 28 points on 11 goals (three game-winners) and six assists. Freshman Kiley Colucci has six goals and six assists for 18 points, while fellow freshman Maria Beatrice has added seven goals.

Sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Neilan has played every minute in goal for the Greyhounds this season, posting a 2.64 goals-against average and .732 save percentage.

AROUND THE NE-10: Five other Northeast-10 matchups will take place this weekend, while Saint Anselm College also has a non-conference contest at Mercy on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.…Bentley University upset No. 4 University of Massachusetts Lowell on Thursday night, 2-0, in Waltham, Mass…UMass Lowell's Melissa Effertzwas named the Northeast-10 Player of the Week in the latest field hockey weekly report.

UP NEXT: Stonehill is back on the road on Monday for another big NE-10 clash at 7th-ranked Merrimack College at 1 p.m. The Skyhawks return home on Wednesday, October 10, to host Southern Connecticut State University for an NE-10 clash at 6 p.m.
