EASTON, Mass. (October 31, 2011) – Three members of the Stonehill College field hockey have earned postseason honors from the Northeast-10 Conference as selected by the league's 11 head coaches.

Senior All-America forward Kathryn Nelson (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury) has earned first team All-Northeast-10 honors for the first time in her career, while freshman forward Jennifer Foley (Holden, Mass./Notre Dame Academy) has been named the NE-10 Rookie of the Year while also collecting second team All-NE-10 and All-Rookie Team accolades as well. Joining Foley on the NE-10's All-Rookie team is classmate Nicole Ciccia (Monroe, Conn./Laurelton Hall).

Nelson, who earns All-Northeast-10 honors for the second-straight year after collecting second team honors as a junior, lead Stonehill with 12 goals (8th NE-10), including two game winners, and seven assists (8th) for 31 points (7th) in her final collegiate season. She ranks 24th nationally in Division II for points per game (1.55), 28th for goals per game and 25th for assists. Nelson finished with seven goals and an assist for 15 points in ten Conference matches.

Nelson, a second team All-America selection by both the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) and womensfieldhockey.com last fall, became the third player in program history to surpass 100 career points this season and finished her career ranked third in program history with 103 points and 45 goals to go with 13 assists in 82 career games played. Nelson was an NE-10 All-Rookie team selection as a freshman in 2008 and has netted 12 game winning goals over her career.

Nelson has been recognized for her work in the classroom as well as the field of play by being voted a Capital One Academic All-District I at large selection by the College Sports Information Directors of America following her junior season and is a three time NFHCA Division II Academic Squad member.

Foley earns the first postseason honors of her collegiate career with Rookie of the Year, All-NE-10 and All-Rookie team honors. It marks the second-straight year and fourth time in program history overall a Stonehill freshman has earned Rookie of the Year status from the league coaches after sophomore Devin Ingersoll (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) received the award in 2010.

Foley, the lone freshman named to either of the two All-Conference teams, earns second team All-NE-10 accolades after posting nine goals and four assists for 22 points in her first collegiate season. She netted a team-best four game winning goals (4th NE-10). In ten NE-10 matches, Foley registered five goals (two game winners) and an assist for 11 points. She was named the NE-10 Rookie of the Week three times this fall.

Ciccia joins Foley on the NE-10's All-Rookie team after a standout freshman season for Stonehill. She dished an assist in her first collegiate season, that coming on the game winning goal in a 3-1 victory over then No. 9-ranked Adelphi University on September 14.

Stonehill finished its season with a 10-10 record overall, including a 4-6 mark in Northeast-10 play. The Skyhawks reached the NE-10 Tournament for the 14th season, advancing to the semifinal round for the fourth straight year.
