RINDGE, N.H. (October 20, 2011) – Franklin Pierce University opened a three goal lead by halftime on its way to a 5-1 victory over Stonehill College in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey action at Sodexo Field tonight.

Senior Tia Levins (Manchester, Maine/Maranacook) led Franklin Pierce with two goals and an assist for five points, while classmate Danielle Dolan (West Brookfield, Mass./Quaboag Regional) added a goal and assist. Senior Kimberly Jaksina (Townsend, Mass./North Middlesex) and freshman Courtney Kelly (Plymouth, N.H./Plymouth) also netted goals for the Ravens.

Senior goaltender Brittany Nyzio (Attleboro, Mass./Worcester Academy) made eight saves for Franklin Pierce, who finished with an 18-13 edge in shots for the match. Freshman Elizabeth Genovese (Street, Md./North Harford) stopped one shot over the opening 33:05, while junior Kaitlyn Curtis (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough) posted five saves in the closing 36:55 for Stonehill. The Skyhawks racked up an 11-3 advantage in penalty corners, including 8-0 in the second half, but couldn't capitalize.

Senior All-American Kathryn Nelson (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury) scored the lone goal for Stonehill, giving her 99 career points as she looks to become just the third 100 point scorer in program history. The goal was the 44th of her career – good for third all-time.

Levins scored twice in an 11-minute span to lead Franklin Pierce to its three goal halftime lead. She opened the scoring at 22:19 and then added her 17th of the season at 33:05 to make it 3-0. Jaksina posted her fourth of the year less than five minutes earlier.

After Kelly netted her first collegiate goal at 48:21 to put Franklin Pierce up four, Nelson put Stonehill on the scoreboard with her team-leading 11th goal of the season at 58:16. Dolan closed out the scoring with her fifth goal of the year at 60:48.

Stonehill (8-9, 3-6 NE-10) closes out the regular season on Saturday as it hosts Saint Michael's College for Senior Day at W.B. Mason Stadium at noon. The Skyhawks can clinch a spot in next week's Northeast-10 Tournament with a win and a loss by Adelphi University at No. 4 Merrimack College by way of the head-to-head win over Saint Anselm College earlier this week. The Skyhawks would be eliminated with an Adelphi win at Merrimack, regardless of their result against Saint Michael's. Franklin Pierce (9-8, 6-3 NE-10) hosts Assumption College in its regular season finale on Saturday at 1 p.m.
