Foley Earns Pair of Weekly Honors

Holden, Mass., native collects second straight NE-10 Rookie of the Week award, also tabbed womensfieldhockey.com Division II Rookie of the Week for first time

EASTON, Mass. (September 21, 2011) – Stonehill College freshman forward Jennifer Foley (Holden, Mass./Notre Dame Academy) has collected a pair of Rookie of the Week honors for her efforts last week, collecting the Northeast-10 Conference award for the second straight week while also earning national honors from womensfieldhockey.com for NCAA Division II for the first time.

Foley earns the weekly honors after sparking Stonehill to a split of its two matches last week. She scored a pair of second half goals to lift the Skyhawks to a key non-conference win over 9th-ranked Adelphi University on Wednesday. The first goal broke a 1-1 tie after the Panthers had equalized early in the second half, before her second provided some insurance with less than ten minutes to play in regulation.

Foley has started all eight matches in her freshman season for Stonehill and is second on the team with nine points, netting a team-high matching four goals (12th NE-10) to go with an assist. A Northeast-10 leading two of her four goals are gamewinners.

Stonehill (3-5, 0-2 NE-10) looks to get back on the winning track on Saturday when it visits Saint Michael's College for a non-conference clash at 11 a.m. The Skyhawks return home on Sunday to host Lindenwood University, from Missouri, at W.B. Mason Stadium at 1 p.m.
