EASTON, Mass. (November 16, 2010) – Six members of the Stonehill College field hockey team, ranked sixth in the most recent Kookaburra/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II poll and second in the NCAA Division II North Regional rankings, have earned postseason recognition as voted by the Northeast-10 Conference's 11 head coaches.

Senior back Courtney Foley (Wakefield, Mass./Wakefield Memorial) earned Defensive Player of the Year honors and was joined on the All-Northeast-10 Conference first team by classmate Lindsey Pinkham (Skowhegan, Maine/Skowhegan Area), while junior forward Kathryn Nelson (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury) has collected All-NE-10 second team accolades. Freshman forward Devin Ingersoll (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) was voted the NE-10's Rookie of the Year and was joined on the All-Rookie team by classmates Kelsey Davis (Gardner, Mass./Gardner) and Gina Sheehan (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury).

It marks the second-straight year a Stonehill player has earned Defensive Player of the Year honors from the NE-10 as Foley joins former teammate and All-American Stephanie Kott as award recipients. Foley earns her first All-Conference selection after spearheading a defensive unit which ranks second in the NE-10 with a 1.40 team goals against average (5th nationally) and seven shutouts (2nd), while limiting opponents to just 9.3 shots per game, including 5.7 per game on goal. She also ranks second on the team with 19 points on a team-high matching seven assists (7th NE-10) and six goals, including three gamewinning goals (5th). She has also chipped in with one defensive save this fall.

Foley, named the NE-10 Defensive Player of the Week four times and womensfieldhockey.com Division II Player of the Week once this season, has appeared in 57 games over her Stonehill career, starting 41, and has totaled 12 goals and 14 assists for 38 points with four gamewinning goals. She earned NFHCA All-Academic honors as a sophomore and junior.

Pinkham earns All-Northeast-10 honors for the second-straight season with her first first team honor after collecting second team accolades as a junior. The Skyhawks midfielder is third on the team with 18 points on six goals and six assists (10th NE-10), netting one gamewinning goal this fall. She is also the Stonehill's primary corner passer, with the Skyhawks leading the NE-10 with 12.26 penalty corners per game after leading all of Division II in 2009.

Pinkham, also an NFHCA Division II All-Academic squad member, has played in 83 games over her career, with 64 starts, totaling 19 goals and 16 assists for 54 points, scoring six gamewinning goals. She is also an All-Conference performer on Stonehill's indoor track team, capturing the 800-meter championship last winter.

Nelson earns All-NE-10 honors for the first time with her selection to the second team. She leads Stonehill with 39 points (4th NE-10) and 18 goals (3rd) to go with three assists, scoring a Conference-high eight gamewinning goals. Nelson ranks fifth nationally in goals per game and seventh for points per game. She earned NE-10 and womensfieldhockey.com Division II Player of the Week honors once this season.

Nelson, an NE-10 All-Rookie team selection as a freshman in 2008, has appeared in 58 games over her career at Stonehill, with 41 starts, and totaled 32 goals and six assists for 70 points, scoring nine career gamewinning goals. She has also earned NFHCA Division II All-Academic honors as a freshman and sophomore.

Ingersoll is the fourth Stonehill freshman to earn Rookie/Freshman of the Year in the NE-10 and first since former All-American Kerri Sullivan in 2005. Ingersoll has started all 19 games in her first collegiate season for the Skyhawks and ranks fourth on the team with 11 points having scored three goals (one gamewinner) to go with five assists. Ingersoll, named the NE-10 and womensfieldhockey.com Division II Rookie of the Week once, had a breakout performance in a 5-2 Conference victory over Southern Connecticut State University when she posted two goals and an assist.

Davis joins Ingersoll on the NE-10's All-Rookie squad, having played all 19 games in her first collegiate season for Stonehill, starting 18. Davis has been a key member of a Skyhawks defensive unit which ranks second in the NE-10 with a 1.40 team goals against average (5th nationally) and seven shutouts (2nd), while limiting opponents to just 9.3 shots per game, including 5.7 per game on goal. She has also chipped in on the offensive end with two goals and an assist for five points. Davis earned NE-10 Rookie of the Week honors for the first time following the final week of the regular season.

Sheehan rounds out a program-record three All-Rookie selections for Stonehill. She has started all 19 games in her first collegiate season on a defense that ranks second in the NE-10 with a 1.40 team goals against average (5th nationally) and seven shutouts (2nd), while limiting opponents to just 9.3 shots per game, including 5.7 per game on goal. Sheehan shares the team lead with two defensive saves.

Stonehill (14-5, 9-1 NE-10) have clinched a first round bye for the upcoming NE-10 Tournament and await the winner of today's first round matchup between third-seeded and No. 10-ranked American International College and sixth-seeded Franklin Pierce University for a semifinal clash, hosted by top-seeded and 2nd-ranked University of Massachusetts Lowell, on Friday, November 19, at 3 p.m.
