#6 Stonehill Defensive Duo Collect Weekly Honors

Foley earns Defensive Player of the Week honors for second time

EASTON, Mass. (October 20, 2010) – Two members of the Stonehill College field hockey team have earned weekly honors from the Northeast-10 Conference honors this week. Seniors Courtney Osier (South Dennis, Mass./Dennis-Yarmouth) and Courtney Foley (Wakefield, Mass./Wakefield Memorial) both collected weekly honors after leading a Skyhawks defense which didn't yield a goal in a 2-0 week.

Osier, named NE-10 Player and Goalkeeper of the Week, stopped all nine shots she faced in posting back-to-back shutouts for Stonehill last week. She registered a 0.00 goals against average while averaging 4.5 saves per game with the two shutouts. Osier made six saves to preserve Saturday's key NE-10 win over Adelphi University after stopping three shots in Wednesday's 2-0 win over American International College. It marks the first Player of the Week award of her career and the fifth time she has earned Goalkeeper of the Week honors.

 
Osier

Osier has started all 14 games for Stonehill in her senior season, playing all but 21:08 in the cage, and has posted a 1.52 goals against average (4th NE-10) and .744 save percentage (9th) with four shutouts (2nd) in 965:12, averaging 4.4 saves per game (9th). She carried a shutout streak of 196:15 into this week's games. Osier ranks sixth nationally in Division II for shutouts per game, eighth for goals against average, 15th for save percentage and 20th for saves per game.

Osier has appeared in 59 games over her career at Stonehill, starting 56, and posting a career record of 39-17. She has played 3,992:15 over her career, posting a 1.25 career goals against average and .729 save percentage with 15 shutouts, averaging 3.24 saves per game.

 
Foley

Foley, named the womensfieldhockey.com Division II Player of the Week for the first time in her career and NE-10 Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, led Stonehill's defensive effort in front of Osier that yielded just 8.5 shots per game, including 4.5 per game on goal, in the two shutout victories. She scored the lone goal off a corner in Saturday's key 1-0 NE-10 win over Adelphi and the defense limited American International to just seven shots, three on goal, in Wednesday's 2-0 triumph.

Foley has started all 14 games for Stonehill this season and leads the team with six assists (5th) to go with four goals (two gamewinners) for 14 points, chipping in with a defensive save. She has been a leader for a defensive unit that ranks second in the NE-10 with five shutouts (4th nationally) and a 1.49 team goals against average (5th).

Foley has appeared in 52 games over her Stonehill career, starting 36, and has totaled ten goals and 13 assists for 33 points with three gamewinning goals. She earned NFHCA All-Academic honors as a sophomore and junior.

Stonehill (10-4, 5-0 NE-10), ranked sixth in this week's Kookaburra/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II poll, returns to action on Saturday when it visits Saint Anselm College for a Northeast-10 matchup at noon. The Skyhawks return home next Wednesday to host No. 2-ranked University of Massachusetts Lowell for a key NE-10 contest on Senior Night at 7 p.m.
