Frantz nets pair to lead Warriors back from an early deficit

EASTON, Mass. (September 5, 2010) – East Stroudsburg University scored three unanswered goals to come back from an early one goal deficit and claim a 3-1 victory over fourth-ranked Stonehill College in a non-conference field hockey matchup at W.B. Mason Stadium this afternoon.

Senior Jessica Frantz (Kunkletown, Pa./Pleasant Valley) scored twice to lead East Stroudsburg, while classmate Brittany Kocis (Mechanicsville, Pa./Central Bucks East) contributed a goal and assist. Another senior, Joanna Reckley (Temple, Pa./Muhlenberg) chipped in with an assist.

Junior goalkeeper Maureen Ordnung (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale) preserved the win with five saves for ESU, which finished with a 14-6 advantage in shots for the contest, limiting Stonehill to just one shot in the second half. Senior Courtney Osier (South Dennis, Mass./Dennis-Yarmouth) posted seven stops in the cage for the Skyhawks.

Senior Lindsey Pinkham (Skowhegan, Maine/Skowhegan) scored the lone Stonehill goal. That goal opened the scoring 14:48 into the contest as she followed her own penalty corner pass and one-timed a pass from the upper left corner of the arc by classmate Courtney Foley (Wakefield, Mass./Wakefield Memorial) at the far post.

Frantz keyed the East Stroudsburg rally with two goals in just over a nine-minute span. She knotted the score at 21:45 when she one-timed a near waist-high drive at the center of the arc off a drive from just outside by Reckley. Frantz put the Warriors in front just past the half hour mark when she drilled a shot into the cage off a penalty corner from Kocis.

Kocis provided an insurance goal for East Stroudsburg with less than 12-minutes remaining in regulation when she scored with a drive from the left side of the arc at 58:50.
