Springfield, Mass. - The offensive slump that has plagued Stonehill all season long came to an abrupt end on Tuesday evening as the visiting Skyhawks exploded for six goals in a 6-1 win over American International.

The Skyhawks scored a goal less than two minutes into the match when Jackie Ladino (North Dartmouth, Mass.) set up Claire Hourihan (East Amherst, N.Y.) for her first of three goals on the day.

Ladino tallied her own goal as the half wore down, giving the Skyhawks a 2-0 lead at intermission.

Stonehill wasted little time putting American International away, getting goals from Laura Nimon (Gardiner, Maine) and Hourihan's second six minutes into the second stanza.

Hourihan and freshman Kathryn Nelson (Shrewsbury, Mass.) each rattled the back of the cage before the final horn sounded, giving Stonehill nine goals in its last two matches.

Stonehill outshot the hosts 26-2 and netminder Courtney Osier (South Dennis, Mass.) needed to only make one save in her 70 minutes between the pipes.

In addition to Hourihan's three markers, Ladino had a goal and two assists and sophomore Amber Travers (Hopkinton, N.H.) collected her first collegiate point on Nelson's goal.

The Yellow Jackets fall to 1-7 overall, 1-5 in the Northeast-10, while Stonehill, now winners of two straight, improves to 2-4 overall and will travel to Merrimack on Thursday for a meeting with the Warriors at 3:30 p.m.
