Arpe Collects Win No. 100; Skyhawks Get First Win at St. Michael’s Since 2002

Colchester, Vt. -

Junior Kerri Sullivan (Goffstown, N.H.) scored the game-winning goal on a penalty corner with 53 seconds left to lift the Skyhawks to a thrilling, 3-2 come-from-behind win at St. Michael's in the Northeast-10 opener for both schools.

The win is the first for Stonehill on the road at St. Michael's since October 2002, a span of four games that saw them outscored 9-4.

A similar fate looked to be on the horizon for the Skyhawks when Michelle Haley scored her first goal of the season less than three minutes into the contest to give the Purple Knights the early lead. Red-hot senior Aly Boulis (Lincoln, R.I.) knotted the score at 1-1 at the 17:53 mark off a feed from sophomore Jackie Ladino (North Dartmouth, Mass.).

The contest remained tied until Chelsea Kimball scored in the 61st minute, pushing the Purple Knights ahead again. Boulis responded with less than three minutes to go, notching her seventh goal of the season, with help from freshman Lindsay Pinkham (Skowhegan, Maine). Sullivan's first tally of the season came moments later, giving the Skyhawks the lead for good and securing the 100th career win for head coach Pam Arpe.

Stonehill, who improves to 3-0 and 1-0 in Northeast-10 action, outshot the hosts 23-5, including holding an astonishing 16-1 edge in the second half.

Dani Ryder (Gloucester, Mass.) made two saves in goal to collect her third win of the season, while Purple Knights netminder Jordan Smalling, who was peppered with shots, made 12 stops.

The Skyhawks return to action on Saturday when they host UMass-Lowell at 1 p.m. in their home opener.
