Lucky Number Seven; Skyhawks Move To 7-0 With 1-0 Win

North Easton, Mass. - Stonehill extended its season opening win streak to seven games as it took a hard-fought, 1-0 win over Assumption on Thursday night at W.B. Mason Stadium.

Claire Hourihan (East Amherst, N.Y.) and freshman Lindsey Pinkham (Skowhegan, Maine) teamed up for the game's lone goal at the 29:52 mark.

The Skyhawks controlled the ball for most of the contest, holding a 10-2 edge in shots and an 8-6 advantage in penalty corners.

Senior Dani Ryder (Gloucester, Mass.) recorded her third shutout of the season, and the team's third consecutive contest where they haven't allowed a goal.

That streak was preserved tonight with the help of junior Kerri Sullivan (Goffstown, N.H.) who turned in the play of the night when Sandy Garney sent a shot past Ryder but the quick-thinking Sullivan raised her stick to turn back the scoring chance.

The 7-0 start for Stonehill, which is the best in program history, will be put on the line on Saturday night when the Skyhawks travel to Bryant for a matchup with the 10th-ranked Bulldogs.
