Springfield, Mass. - Junior Laura Nimon (Gardiner, Maine) deposited a pass from Caitlin Gleason (New Boston, N.H.)  past American International goalkeeper Nicole Spence midway through the second overtime, giving Stonehill a 3-2 win, in a crucial Northeast-10 contest on Thursday night.

For Nimon, it was her second game-winning goal in the last three Stonehill contests.

The Yellow Jackets took an early 1-0 lead 1:55 in to the contest when several AIC shots were turned away by Skyhawk netminder Dani Ryder (Gloucester, Mass.) but Stephanie Laskey finally pushed one of those shots by Ryder.

Stonehill evened the score when Aly Boulis (Lincoln, R.I.) and Jackie Ladino (North Dartmouth, Mass.) teamed up for the equalizer at 7:15.

Nimon's first goal, an unassisted tally, gave Stonehill their first lead with a little more than 15 minutes left in the first half.

That advantage would be short lived as the Yellow Jackets scored the game tying goal under five minutes into the second stanza when Jamie Anderson fed Nicole Phelps and she smacked home her fourth goal of the season.

The Skyhawks outshot AIC 22-14 and held a 22-4 edge in penalty corners. In only her second collegiate start, American International goalie Nicole Spence turned away 16 shots, while Ryder was excellent in goal as well, denying 10 Yellow Jacket shots.

Stonehill, now 10-1 overall and more importantly, 8-1 in Northeast-10 action, has now won three in a row since dropping their first contest of the season. They now sit in a three-way tie for first in NE-10 play with Bryant and Bentley.

Stonehill returns to action on Saturday when they play host to St. Michael's at 1 p.m.
