EASTON, Mass.-- Junior Aly Boulis (Lincoln, R.I.) netted a pair of goals, while freshman Jackie Ladino (North Dartmouth, Mass.) added a goal and an assist to lead sixth-ranked Stonehill to a 4-0 Northeast-10 Conference field hockey victory over Saint Anselm Tuesday afternoon at W.B. Mason Stadium.
Boulis gave the host Skyhawks (9-3, 7-2 Northeast-10) the only goal they would need in the 24th minute of play when she converted a pass from freshman Claire Hourihan (East Amherst, N.Y), and junior Caitlin Gleason (New Boston, N.H.) extended that advantage to 2-0 just 3:50 into the second half when she scored off a penalty corner on passes from senior Courtney Campbell (Reading, Mass.) and junior Kara Brady (Eastham, Mass.). Ladino's first collegiate marker on Brady's second feed in the 46th minute gave Stonehill a 3-0 cushion, and Boulis's second of the day on assists from Ladino and sophomore Kerri Sullivan (Goffstown, N.H.) closed out the scoring.
Junior Dani Ryder (Gloucester, Mass.) made a pair of saves to record her fifth shutout of the season in goal for Stonehill, while freshman Riley Haddock (Falmouth, Maine) made 10 stops in net for the visiting Hawks (2-11, 1-11 Northeast-10) as the Skyhawks outshot Saint Anselm by a 20-2 margin while holding a 16-3 edge in penalty corners for the match.
Stonehill hosts second-ranked Bentley in a showdown for first place in the Northeast-10 standings on Thursday evening at W.B. Mason Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Saint Anselm hosts Bryant in a Northeast-10 match on Thursday afternoon in Manchester, N.H. beginning at 3:30 p.m.
