EASTON, Mass.-- Senior All-America Kelly Latendresse (Sidney, Maine) netted a goal and a pair of assists to lead Stonehill to a 3-1 non-league victory over Mansfield (Pa.) in the college field hockey season opener for both teams Saturday afternoon at W.B. Mason Stadium.

The host Skyhawks (1-0) overcame a 1-0 halftime deficit by taking the lead for good with a pair of markers that came 54 seconds apart early in the second half, as sophomore Kerri Sullivan (Goffstown, N.H.) evened matters on a Latendresse feed at the 44:05 mark and Latendresse netted the eventual game-winner at 44:59 on an assist from senior Patty McNeil (Canton, Mass.). Junior Kara Brady (Eastham, Mass.) closed out the Stonehill scoring at 53 minutes even when she converted passes from Latendresse and junior Morgan Davis (Walpole, Mass.) off a penalty corner.

The visiting Mountaineers (0-1) took control of the match early on, taking a 1-0 lead just 2:57 into the contest when junior Shana Markwis (Milford, Pa.) converted a penalty corner, but Mansfield went the final 39:55 of play without a shot on goal, including none in the second half of action.

Junior Dani Ryder (Gloucester, Mass.) picked up the win in goal for Stonehill with a two-save effort, while sophomore Brianna DeLuca (West Grove, Pa.) made 10 stops in net for Mansfield as the Skyhawks outshot the Mountaineers by an 18-4 margin for the contest while holding a 15-3 edge in penalty corners on the afternoon.

Stonehill opens Northeast-10 Conference play on Wednesday afternoon when the Skyhawks head to Manchester, N.H. to take on Saint Anselm at 4:00 p.m., while Mansfield heads to Smithfield, R.I. on Sunday afternoon to take on Bryant in a non-league match that begins at Noon.
