EASTON, Mass.-- Junior Aly Boulis (Lincoln, R.I.) netted a pair of goals as fifth-ranked Stonehill claimed its first-ever Northeast-10 Conference field hockey regular season championship with a 3-0 league triumph over Assumption Friday evening at W.B. Mason Stadium.

Junior Caitlin Gleason (New Boston, N.H.) gave the host Skyhawks (16-3, 14-2 Northeast-10) the only goal they would need 19:03 into the match on a feed from fellow junior Ashley Freeman (White River Junction, Vt.) for her 13th tally of the season, and Boulis's unassisted marker just 4:55 later staked Stonehill to a 2-0 advantage at the break. Boulis converted Freeman's second assist of the contest for her 12th goal of the season with 11:39 remaining in the match to close out the scoring and give the Skyhawks their first conference regular season crown in the 11-year history of the program, as Stonehill copped a share of last year's Northeast-10 tournament title.

Junior Dani Ryder (Gloucester, Mass.) made one save to record her 16th victory and ninth shutout in goal for Stonehill, while graduate student Brandi Guertin (Bellingham, Mass.) made 13 stops in net for the visiting Greyhounds (5-14, 5-11 Northeast-10) as the Skyhawks outshot Assumption by a commanding 19-1 margin while holding a 20-3 edge in penalty corners to collect their ninth straight victory and avenge their last defeat, a 2-0 setback suffered to the Greyhounds back on October 4th in Worcester.

Stonehill will be the top-seed and host the 2006 Northeast-10 Championships next Saturday and Sunday at W.B. Mason Stadium, with semi-final round play set for Saturday, November 4th beginning at 11:00 a.m. Friday's contest was the season finale for Assumption.
