EASTON, Mass.-- Sophomore Aly Boulis’s (Lincoln, R.I.) goal off a penalty corner in the 42nd minute of play lifted seventh-ranked Stonehill to a 1-0 Northeast-10 Conference field hockey victory over eighth-ranked Southern Connecticut Sunday afternoon at W.B. Mason Stadium.

Boulis converted feeds from senior Julie Michalos (Norwood, Mass.) and junior Courtney Campbell (Reading, Mass.) off the corner for her eighth goal of the season that extended the host Skyhawks’ (13-2, 11-2 Northeast-10) school-record winning streak to nine straight. Sophomore Dani Ryder (Gloucester, Mass.) made that stand up in goal for Stonehill by making three saves to earn her 13th win of the season and notch her 17th career shutout triumph in the process. The victory was Stonehill’s fourth of the season over a ranked opponent and moved the Skyhawks into sole possession of second place in the conference standings.

Senior Casey Sanford (North Haven, Conn.) made five stops in net for the visiting Owls (10-6, 10-4 Northeast-10), as Stonehill outshot Southern Connecticut by an 8-5 margin for the contest while holding an 11-4 edge in penalty corners.

Stonehill hosts Bryant in a Northeast-10 outing on Tuesday evening at W.B. Mason Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Southern Connecticut hosts fourth-ranked UMass Lowell in a Northeast-10 match on Tuesday evening in New Haven, Conn. that also begins at 7:00 p.m.
