COLCHESTER, Vt.-- Second half goals by juniors Ashley Webb (Simsbury, Conn.) and Cassie Dewey (Lebanon, N.J.) lifted Saint Michael’s to a 2-0 Northeast-10 Conference field hockey victory over Stonehill Saturday afternoon at Duffy Field.

The two teams played a scoreless first half before Webb converted a penalty corner from junior Lindsay Harrison (Brandon, Vt.) in the 49th minute to give the host Purple Knights (2-3, 2-1 Northeast-10) the only goal they would need, and Dewey provided an insurance tally for Saint Michael’s in the 58th minute when she scored off a Harrison crossing pass.

Junior Tina Nardi (West Pawlet, Vt.) picked up the win in goal for Saint Michael’s with a six-save effort, while sophomore Dani Ryder (Gloucester, Mass.) suffered her first setback of the season with a four-save effort in goal for the visiting Skyhawks (4-1, 3-1 Northeast-10), who were scored upon for the first time this season after posting a shutout streak of 329 minutes and 19 seconds to start the season.

Stonehill travels to Lowell, Mass. on Wednesday evening to take on UMass Lowell in a Northeast-10 match that begins at 7:00 p.m., while Saint Michael’s hosts Franklin Pierce in a Northeast-10 outing on Wednesday afternoon at Duffy Field at 4:00 p.m.
