MANCHESTER, N.H.-- Sophomore Colleen McLaughlin (Methuen, Mass.) scored a pair of goals and freshman Laura Nimon (Gardiner, Maine) added a pair of markers and an assist to lead seventh-ranked Stonehill to a 6-0 Northeast-10 Conference field hockey victory over Saint Anselm Tuesday afternoon at South Field.

Sophomore Caitlin Gleason’s (New Boston, N.H.) goal 3:52 into the match gave the visiting Skyhawks (9-2, 7-2 Northeast-10) the only goal they would need en route to their season-high fifth straight victory, as tallies by Nimon and McLaughlin that came 1:17 apart extended Stonehill’s edge to 3-0. Sophomore Aly Boulis (Lincoln, R.I.) gave the visitors a 4-0 cushion in the 29th minute of action, and Nimon’s second goal of the day with 33 seconds remaining in the half staked the Skyhawks to a 5-0 lead at the break. McLaughlin closed out the scoring in the 44th minute of play for Stonehill with her second of the day on Nimon’s feed. Sophomore Ashley Freeman (White River Junction, Vt.) notched a pair of assists in the win for the visitors, who also received a single helper off the stick of freshman Kelley Devlin (Higganum, Conn.).

Sophomore Dani Ryder (Gloucester, Mass.) and freshman Sara Piper (Hollis, N.H.) combined for the shutout win in goal for Stonehill, as Piper made one save in the final 35 minutes of action, while freshman Sarah Oakes (North Yarmouth, Maine) made six stops in net for the host Hawks (0-12, 0-11 Northeast-10) as the Skyhawks outshot Saint Anselm by an 18-1 margin in posting their second 6-0 victory of the season over the Hawks.

Stonehill travels to Waltham, Mass. on Thursday evening to take on fourth-ranked and rival Bentley in a Northeast-10 clash that begins at 7:00 p.m., as the Skyhawks handed the Falcons a 2-0 setback back on September 8th at W.B. Mason Stadium. Saint Anselm travels to Smithfield, R.I. on Thursday afternoon to take on Bryant in a Northeast-10 outing that begins at 4:00 p.m.
